I plan to, well want to, switch from Verizon Wireless to AT&T this Fall. As good as VZW is I would like to trim my bill down a little (fuck these new contract free plans). Anybody with AT&T recommend them?

Really depends on where you are.. down by me in SW Florida, I found ATT BETTER than Verizon.

But up in NJ, Verizon was so much better

AT&T has been pretty good for me, but it does depend on where you are. Their service is amazingly good in very rural parts of North and South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. Calls from my office in Denver are hit or miss. I’ve found them to be less sneaky than, say, Comcast (not saying much, right?), but I haven’t had any reason to dispute anything with them so I don’t know how that goes. And my name has been alarmingly misspelled on my account for 13 years and no one can fix it.

My little sister uses one of those $45/month unlimited everything pay as you go plans from Walmart and has actually had great luck with it. Might be worth checking out.

I agree. I had a gf from Florida who said AT&T owns down there but the NorthEast is a Verizon territory. Though the gap has been closed (I used to be the only one of my friends with reception when hiking) I still get better reception on Verizon than most.

I use straight talk with the Verizon network. It’s $40 a month for me for unlimited talk text and 5gb of data. Been amazing.

If you’re going to AT&T you might as well do Cricket. They’re now just a prepaid brand of AT&T. If you do autopay, it’s $45/mo for 5 GB data, unlimited talk & text, and some international stuff. You can get 10 GB for $55/mo.

We’ve been with the Blue Deathstar of Love® for several years now. No complaints about their network. Their customer service is generally excellent as well. I vehemently dislike their corporate behavior, but faced with the choice between ATT or Verizon, Fuck Verizon.

I would rather be with T-Mobile, but their coverage in our area sucks.

Both ATT and Verizon are going to be expensive. They know they have better networks than anyone else, so they can get away with charging whatever they damn well please. ATT just recently “innovated” a new activation fee for any device on their network. Even if you buy your phone from them, they still make you pay $25 to get it to sign on to their network. AsshaTTs.

Also, get a Windows Phone. They are cool.

Is that Lambo pink/fuschia - or is it my phone’s screen? - because it looks amazing...

I save about $25 a month (1 less GB of data though) with how AT&T and VZW are set up with their new packages

Get StraightTalk/Cricket.

They run on AT&T’s networks. They cost 30-40% less and have no contract.

You can get 5 gigs 4g data (3G unlimited data), unlimited calls & text, unlimited international texts for like $50/mo.

deAThsTar has roll-over data now, so if you stay on WiFi enough for a couple months you won’t have to really worry about going over.

Straight talk. ATT service with no contract and good price. Have used them for 3 years now with no issues.

Check coverage first, but go for it. Verizon’s my most disliked of the “big four”, followed immediately by Sprint, but they do offer irritatingly-comprehensive 2G and 3G coverage, and not bad LTE coverage. I prefer T-Mobile, but AT&T’s got a lot of good stuff going.

Good idea waiting until all the fall, as all the newest flagships will be out by early November. I'm impatiently waiting the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, myself.
