Why Doesn't Infiniti Cash In On The NISMO Heritage?

First, Something has to die.

The Infiniti Performance Line was a sad attempt at creating something like BMWs M brand. (Sadness Incoming)

As far as I am concerned this badge is interchangeable with an HONORABLE MENTION ribbon from an elementary school science fair.

The idea of Infiniti (a brand whose tagline is 50% the word “Performance” and 50% the word “Inspired”) actually having a legitimate racing heritage should excite you. I mean, look at NISMO GO! Even the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ones are cool now! GREAT JOB NISMO!!

If NISMO was also an Infiniti performance brand , then we raise the chances tenfold of seeing twice as many hamsters under the hood of the next special Infiniti coupe or convertible.

So here’s my proposal to include Infiniti in NISMO without any headaches or new brands.

NIS : Nissan :: MO : Motorsports

Nis san Mo torsports ====> N issan I nfiniti S port MO toring.

With a NISMO heritage flowing through Infiniti, we can INSPIRE fans with our PERFORMANCE.

And build these.

AND RACE THEM.

Nissan Infiniti Sport Motoring. Still NISMO. STILL AWESOME.

As a 10yr Nissan technician, I would love to see Nismo come out with something relevant. The only thing even remotely memorable for me was the Nismo 350z. That was a great Sunday track car. The Nismo Frontier was just laughable.

To have that history bleed into Infiniti would seem to be a no brainier. But that’d be too easy…
