The guy also didn’t know what I meant by e30, I had to specify that I was talking about his BMW. He had a tow service come change it for him. I guess you can have good taste without being handy.

TBH saying e30 (or any of the othet chassis codes) BMW means nothing to me either.

I couldn’t tell you what years the e30 represent either, but then again I don’t own one.

Besides knowing that e30 is a BMW, and that there have been at least 2 more e-something generations it doesn't mean anything to me either.

There’s only a few I know. Chassis codes are best left to the specific message boards.

I thought if you owned an E30, you had to know what “E30” means. I believe this will eventually trickle down to others soon, namely the E39. A couple more years.
I saw 2 young-ish* guys in a parking lot a few weeks ago with a caged E30 and I said “Hey, nice E30!”
“Thanks!”
“Do you autocross it?”
“LOL, that’s where we’re coming from now!”
See? Totally normal E30 conversation. *even for two dudes who were born after the E30 was sold.

It would if you were driving a 1980s BMW in 2015. It’s not a normal commuter nowadays, you only drive an old car like that if you’re at least some kind of enthusiast.

Not trying to be argumentative but someone driving a 20 year old Mustang probably doesn’t know what SN95 is.

Would the driver of a 30 year old Mustang know it’s a Fox body?

Who knows? To them it’s an old Ford?

No, likely it’s the same type of mustang Vanilla Ice had in his video.
