Kinja'd!!!

With Patrick’s recent announcement some of you were asking what my role will be on Jalopnik moving forward. I’ll still be around as an occasional contributor on the front-page, but not as much as I used to be.

Now that The Garage will be hosting DYI projects, builds, and other awesome stuff it was time the CarBuying sub-blog took on a new direction that the readers were asking for. Also, between work and family, I was running out of hours in the day for blogging duties. I’ll still be posting car-buying tips, commentary, and advice columns, just not on a daily basis.

Of course if you have a topic that you think I should cover or a question about car buying feel free to drop me a line any time at AutomatchConsulting@gmail.com

Is it going in the direction of how we can get a used koenigsegg for the price of a used broken condom?

Good to hear! I always look forward to your articles, since they’re a nice safe haven of sound logic from the traditional cries of “but you could have bought a Miata/3.5 used V6 Mustangs”.

It’ll be sad to see less involvement from you in Car Buying. As much as I like reading Tavarish’s articles, you were by far and away the voice of reason on that sub-blog.

Still, if I can extrapolate what you’ll be doing from your header image, it’ll involve 100% more time with Audi Avants!? :D

Yeah more Avants would be nice, but I’ll still be giving reasonable car buying advice just on Jalop proper instead of a sub-blog.

Viva Car Buying!

But don’t forget, never buy new... unless it’s a lease... but you should never lease, used cars are better.... except that used car salesman are the Devil.... but not as much as dealership salesmen and service that always rip you off (repeat order for 10 more times) solution?... so do the buying and repair yourself... AAAAnd that’s how The Garage was born :]

Does this mean you’ll have more time to find that affordable 288 GTO I’ve been looking for? My budget is under$20k.

Hi Tom,

Is there a place we can request/suggest car buying posts? I’m looking for a mid-size SUV new or used. Really close to getting a 2016 Outlander but wondering if there are some used options that I haven’t thought of that I can get more bang for my buck with ~$30k.

Sure...just send me an email. So you are looking for a good used suv for under 30k?

Outlander is a nice pick, but is a bit underpowered. I would have you explore a CPO Kia Sorento. You can probably pick up a low mile V6 EX-L version for high 20’s.
