What do you use for a case? I’ve never had a decent cell phone case before, and I need to change that.
I’m sitting here with the husks of two Galaxy Note 2’s, taking the screen from a parts unit I got on eBay to replace the screen on my phone. Meanwhile, my Galaxy Axiom is held together with packing tape.
I’d probably have to forego my extended battery on the Note 2 (9500mAh versus 3100mAh for the stock one), but if I can avoid this bullshit again it’ll be well worth it. Picture very related.

Best phone case I’ve ever used -
Especially if you can get one used or refurbished. I have one on my S5, and I literally demo it to people by throwing it screen first onto concrete. (I secretly want it to die)

I just go onto Amazon and find a cheap case rated 4 stars and above. So far my current iPhone case is working brilliantly - it’s protected the phone from tons of falls.
Here’s my case - perhaps they make one for your phone too: http://www.amazon.com/iPhone-LUVVITT…

What’s wrong with the S5? If I wasn’t able to fix the Note 2, that was my next choice. The S5 is plentiful, cheaper than a Note 3 or 4, and yet is water-resistant and has microSD card slots and a replacable battery. I’m 0% interested in a S6/Note 5 because they’re all part of Samsung’s new-edge design language and don’t have expandable memory. I’m 200% not interested in the S6 edge/S6 edge+ because of what happened to the Note 2.

The Urban Armor Gear cases. I’ve gone through hell and back in this case (countless times dropping my phone out of car, abuse, hammering, and just more abuse). The TPU material is some sort of Marine Spec material and the polycarbonate is great.

I use an Otter Box Commuter. Around $25. Much cheaper than the Defender, and almost as good.

If you crack the screen or led on an s5 you need to send it out to get it fixed cause it’s water proof, and that costs $200 no matter what. Other than that great time phone.

I don’t use a case. I’m living on the edge.
Although I have dropped it a few times and once from above 8’ (deflected the side slope of a ladder leg so I don’t really count that one). I have had to remove burred metal from the iPhone 5s surround with a utility knife after dropping it onto concrete.

Someone else mentioned the Otter Box Defender, and I’m going to go ahead and second that. I’ve had them for my last two phones, and will most likely continue that tradition.

That pic reminds me of my Blackberry days. I didn’t have that neat keyboard though.
I’ve never been into cases. The company makes me keep an Otterbox on “my” Droid.
I hate it.
That’s all I can give you. It feels like I’m carrying a damn Brick Phone all over again.

I hate putting a case on my phone but I also admit I have dropped it enough times (with a case on it) that the case has probably saved my bacon more than once.
That said, I can’t bring myself to use a bulky case. I’ve got a Cruzerlite thin case on my LG G2. It’s not too bulky, it’s a bit nerdy but not too nerdy, and it’s protected my phone from at least a few drops.

What’s the difference between the Defender and the Commuter?

I’ll deal with an Otterbox if it’ll keep the phone from being ruined again.
The keyboard used to be much spiffier looking:
But I realized having almost $160 in keycaps alone wasn’t fiscally sound. The current set was about $30-40 all said and done.

The defender is certainly a more rugged case. If you need maximum protection - because of your job site, or because you’re a klutz and drop your phone alot - and if your phone is expensive and paid for, then I’d get that. It’s like $90 though.
The commuter is probably good for most people. Sturdy hard plastic shell, rubber insert, screen-protector included.

Otterbox Defender on my Galaxy S4 and some off brand $5 (from amazon!) case on my Pantech Flex. Love the Otterbox but buy it online if you’re going to get one. Retail stores wanted something like $45 for it around Chicago. I think I paid $10. The off brand one on my pantech is just as good as the Defender, only it doesn’t have the built in screen protector.

The defender has the hard plastic wrapped in the soft plastic and the commuter is the opposite with the hard plastic on the outside and the soft touching the phone

No case. Why ruin a slim, light, and pretty phone with a big hunk of ugly rubber. Dropped my HTC One many times without any significant damage.

See how thick the Galaxy Axiom is in back? That’s how thick the Note 2 is with the 9500mAh battery in it (the red one standing next to the keyboard).
The whole reason I’m replacing the screen is because I dropped it on the treadmill I was running on, which launched it into a piece of equipment at 8 mph.

The Defender might be a better choice. I’m looking to get back into the building trades, and my Note 2 is my device. Bought it for $96 and now I’ve spent another $69 replacing the screen I broke.

Yep, my EVO 4G was similar when I used an extended battery, so maybe not so slim. Still I can’t imagine wanting to put a giant otterbox on it as well.

I might have to choose the Otterbox or the massive battery.
The 9500mAh outweighs the rest of the phone.

I have a Spigen case for my LG G3: http://www.spigen.com/collections/lg…
I also use their glass protector, a thin sheet of hard glass that’s very smooth and scratch proof: http://www.spigen.com/collections/lg…
Advantage over plastic: clarity, smoothness, scratch resistance. Disadvantage: price, will crack if you flex your phone (still works perfectly, though).

I like Speck cases. I’ve had a Speck Candyshell a Grip on my phone since January, and that’s a crazy feat considering I used to switch cases constantly. The Speck cases can give protection without the bulk of an OtterBox.

The Defender is a 3 -pc case including 2 plastic shell halves and a rubber back cover. It can make the edges of the screen hard to use (the bottom of my iPhone 6 screen suffers a little), but in my opinion the protection outweighs the difficulty.
Note the trademarked ‘Pretentious Hole’ so I can show everyone that I’m using an iPhone.
I’m pretty sure the Commuter is just a rubber cover. A little flimsy, but better than nothing.

Yep. The F-key row is two WASD Keyboards keycap sample sets, while the modifiers are a set of Banggood RGBY modifiers. The rest of the keys are stock keys from a Cherry G81.
This is what the board looks like stock:

Im not really sure, but i assume so, you have to replace both.

I had to do that on a first-gen Nexus 7 I fixed. The glass and LCD are supposed to be bonded, but I didn’t do that on the replacement. I hot-glued them together so if it got broken again, it would be much easier to repair.
