I hate Smart Watches, but a friend recently got one and I have to say I’m quite impressed. It works great for answering the phone, checking messages, controlling the Home Theater while the Iphone is plugged to it and doing sports. Should I?
Also Watchlopnik so you won’t be angry at me.

That’s a lot of money you could spend on autocross tires

This. I’m not sure there’s actual autocross anywhere in Brazil though. Still, that’s a lot of Money, and if smartwatches have the survivability rate of smartphones, you’re looking at two, three years tops.

There is no autocross here.

I personally think the Pebble looks better than the Apple Watch. And it’s cheaper too!

But can I control the Iphone from the Pebble?

No, watches have jewel bearings and springs, not screens...

I know, I’m a watch nut myself. I see it as a tiny Iphone that is slightly more useful than the pocket Iphone.

But, how will you wear a watch then? :(
Answer, iwatch on right hand, mechanical on left!

I might just be insane enough to do this.

Probably not but be honest, how often are you going to use that?

It is the only reason I’m buying it. I want to check my emails, messages, maps without having to take the iPhone from my pocket.

Sounds like there needs to be a new here

I know the Pebble can do the messages and email but maps I’m not sure

We get track days at Interlagos and some other country-side tracks, but thats it.

Not with that attitude.

“I hate Smart Watches, but a friend recently got one and I have to say I’m quite impressed.”
So...which is it?

Both, I’m impressed at how fast the Veyron but I still hate it. You can hate something and be impressed by it.

No.

Personally I like the Motorola smartwatch better, in terms of style. But if you’re apple-centric with your devices already, this sounds like a better bet. I will say, though, I’ve seen a lot of “It’s cool... for the first few days” reviews of it.

No.
Three acquaintances got them and returned them inside of a week. They're grossly overpriced toys.
If you want a smartwatch, I strongly recommend the Microsoft Band ($150, supports all major platforms, not just the highly-restricted one) and then you have even more leftover for car parts. Or wait for the Band 2 in October, which will be even better.

At the very least, wait until September 9th when Apple has their next keynote speech. Chances are there will be some kind of update for the Watch, even if the event is mostly to announce the new iPhone 6S.

Get the Pebble Time instead. It’s much cheaper and does the same stuff. I personally wear an OG Pebble. From back when you could have it any color you wanted, as long as that color was black.

Pebble Time
Plus, if you get a phone that isn’t an iPhone, you’re left with a sub-par wristwatch. Pebble works with anything.

The answer is obvious

I think Google are planning to announce iPhone compatibility for Android Wear quite soon, though it’s hard to know how many features will actually work—Apple, for better or worse, like to keep their platform locked down, so no smartwatch is going to be able to do as much as the Apple Watch on an iPhone.
That said, I do prefer the look of several Android Wear watches - it’s all about the round screen - and you should be able to get one for quite a bit less than the Apple Watch.
The Pebble Time - my current smartwatch - is another option, but I understand that the functionality is relatively limited on iOS. You’ll be able to check and respond to messages, I think, but most other notifications will be read-only—you’d have to take the phone out of your pocket to respond.
