I always remember that my dad and uncle had tickets to his last show, but only went to Alpine Valley to try and sell them. If I remember correctly, they ended up selling them for peanuts in the parking lot and leaving before the show started.

For my money, the greatest guitar player of all time. I'll be spinning Texas Flood as soon as I get home from work today.

Watching these videos just reminds me that I will never even be able to hold a guitar as well as he did.

Such an incredible talent.

I'm honestly not sure there's any one thing I can do as well as SRV played guitar. Like he's better at guitar than I am at breathing.

I have that episode of ACL on VHS tape. It’s the reason I keep a VHS player. Should get it digitalized but it is more fun to set up the VCR on the old cathrode ray tube TV and watch.

Side note: I remember going to see him early in his career and having a hard time getting anybody else to go with me. There were maybe 500 people in the audience and he rocked just like there were 50,000. What a talented guy.

That’s awesome. I was only 6 when he died so I’ve only gotten to experience him posthumously. I can’t imagine how huge he would have gotten if he’d lived.
