Someone who is a PT... LOSER

I’ll be honest, I kind of like that PT cruiser. If you gonna go retro, go all the way.

Mostly middle aged ladies from what Ive noticed.

We used to call them Pity Cruisers.

I’ll be honest, I liked the style when it was first launched. There was nothing like it then, and I think it may have been the first popular retro-styled car. I was only ever disappointed in it after I drove one...Still might make a decent beater to haul stuff around in though, just not as a DD.

The kind of person who does 55 in the fast lane, like the eggplant 2.4t PT myself and a few others were stuck behind this afternoon.

Viewing this in a position relative to your Toyota Tundra Stepside post, maybe one reason people hated that was subconscious evoking of the PT. As for who drives them, two people at my business, both draftsmen like me, but much older. One even has an interest in cars and owns an old Chevelle. A friend’s wife also had one, back when she was his fiance, just to haul stuff. No accounting for taste.

Yeah, I like the guy too, but this thing above? no one deserves that.

I remember being amazed at how much headroom they had.

Oh God... I just realized the Tundra Stepside has PT Cruiser fenders.

Someone who wants a manual wagon that is cheap to buy and relatively cheap to own that doesn’t look bland.
Of course I’m referring to people who buy *unmolested* PT Cruisers.

I will admit I have a softspot for the GT manuals. Panel van conversion with wizard mural is key though.

I imagine a person who walks onto a “buy here pay here” lot where everyone is approved. They came to look at that shiny late model Accord up front with a dirty carfax. The salesman’s first question is, “how much do your payments to be”? They reply “no more than a $100 a month”! The salesman quickly crushes their dream, but he mighy have something in the back that he can work with them on, but “ONLY if you buy TODAY”.

I’m rusty on the lingo, ‘canny’ is good, right? :).

True story, first pt I ever saw was a woodie with a red body...it was awful. I like the woodie design, but the body needs to be a neutral color.
Also, aftermarket pt parts need to be tasteful. Not digging the wheels or the taillights, or even the chrome stickers on the front.
Pt cruisers grab enough attention on its own, they don't need help.

Well, non computer stuff can be cheap....the pcm is a arm and a leg.... :/

Great for child seats too. MrsZtp just complains about putting the kudu the Grand Prix. “Honey, when we bought the car, we weren’t planning on the other car breaking down”

It's different from the other cars, that's what drew me too it.

If it's any consolation, my pt never went below 70 mph in the fast lane.

I’ll take it!

The TIPMs have been failing sometimes (though mine never did)... but they’re not that bad. They cost $480 (rockauto.com), but $200 of that is a core deposit. As long as you send back the broken one, it only ends up costing $280 plus shipping.

Oh that already died on me, I’m referring to the powertrain control module, that died on me.

You can buy that used for $100 to $200 from car-part.com
And less than that if you’re in the US.

It's vin-specific, which is the issue.

I would, for cheap srt4 swap. Especially in that heinous wine-purple color

Road tripping the other day, car pulls out in front of me and I’m forced to slow down to grand-daddy Sunday driver speeds. The car? PT Cruiser Convertible TURBO.

I approve of this PT cruiser.

I thought no one actually buys them - they were all inherited from older deceased relatives.

And they got a good spot — potential door dings only on one side!
