Did you prefer Molson Canadian or Labatt?

Kinja'd!!! bob and john > Round headlight enthusiast

Kinja'd!!!1

havent tried labatt. Molson isnrt great. but at least it can still pass for beer. now budwiser on the other hand *shudders*

Never had Budweiser bit someday I may have to for science. IMO Molson is like a 5/10 and Labatt is maybe a generous 5.5

Rear brake on my 05 600rr stopped working, so I bought a rebuild kit. I had to use a hydraulic press to push the piston out of the cylinder. What’s up with that? Can I still use that piston after I clean it?

Kinja'd!!! bob and john > Santiago of Escuderia Boricua
08/25/2015 at 19:43

Kinja'd!!!0

erm. dam.

okay, if the piston is still round and true, you might be okay. but if you had to use a press to get it out, I would double check both the piston and the caliper to amke sure they are both stll round and not ovaled.

also, how the fuck did you just a hydraulic press to take it out? i would have just taken the pads out and kept pumped the back brake.

Haha, I took it to work. My team has a small (12 ton?) press in our build room.

How do I check for cylindricity?

not i mean, did you drill a hle in the back to push through>

get a bore dail gaue/micro meter.

measure the bor at 90 degree to each other (so one in a Y axis, one on a X axis) if they differ, its ovaled, and you might need new pistons.

Why did I just discover that bikes have TWO master cylinders the other day?

Actually, I can answer that, because I’m kinda new to this and kinda an idiot. I honestly didn’t realize there was a rear one until this week. Rear brake seems to work much better now that I topped it off.

Also, ever try Crispin cider? Stuff is delicious though a little expensive.

cars: busa powered mini/caterham: 50?k
——- volvo V60 polestar: 65K
——- pick up trunk...probably a dodge ram 2500 w/ disel and lux package: 60K

Kinja'd!!! bob and john > K-Roll-PorscheTamer

Kinja'd!!!1

kinda hard actually. you need some special tools (well...not really special, but BIG. a 32MM sokect for the front sprokect, and a heavy duty chain riveter)

remove rear wheel and dremel chain off. use impact gun on front sproket. remove rear with a small breaker bar. reinstal front and rear gears using the same tools. put wheels back on.

measure out new chain. remove as many links as needed by dremeling off a pin and removing those links.
use chain tool to re-rivet in palkce. DONE. do home, clean off packing grease, have a beer

because (usually) the front and rear braking system of a bike are totally and 100% separate. the only company that I know to ever combine them (even if its only during ABS activation) is honda.

I havent. I’m usualy either strong bow (first choice) growers (second...only because they have a lot of flavours) and alexander keiths.

I have up until recently avoided buying motorcycles with any fairings at all, just for this reason. But I broke that rule with a V-Strom 1000 last month. At least it’s only a half fairing, I guess.

not gunna lie, 1/2 the issue is taht i wored LED frame lights to them, with no quick release. so everytime I take them off, i have to cut and re-splice wires

At least it looks nice with the fairings on. And it’s a SV so you probably don’t have to take ‘em off that often.

How long does that all take?? And 32MM? The largest socket I’ve ever used was a 24MM deep socket to remove the bolt holding the 944’s steering wheel in place.

Yea 32mm. And depending on how fast/annoying the chain pin wants to be, could be anywhere from 30min to 3 hours
