I must say that the offset license plate does a lot for it.

What is a Sebring vert like to drive? I always see these and wonder if they are like most other Chrysler garbage. But I appreciate all drop tops because top down! Curious to know what it is like from an Oppo perspective.

I don’t know....a lot of people seem to hate on older Sebrings, etc. I still see a lot of them on the road in fairly decent shape with higher kms, so they can’t be that bad. I’ve always thought Stringbean’s generation of convertible was always pretty decent looking in it’s own right.....not fast, or sporty, no, but a good cruiser. Looking good :)

Stock - slow, heavy, lots of body roll.

After sway bars, stut brace, better shocks - less body roll, pulls through turns

Intake, exhaust, autostick conversion - row your own gears (albeit without clutch) but you can hold loud high revs and stay in that power band.

The 2.7 v6 isn’t super strong but gets rev happy when you get on it. The earlier models did suffer from sludge issues but once they got that fixed (2004 I think) and switching to synthetic I haven’t seen any sludge (mines 06).

It gets looks and questions, people aren’t really sure what to think. But the response is generally positive.

The old ones got a lot of flack because of late 90’s and early 2000 Chrysler/Dodge reliability. The 2.7 was known for sludge and killed off a ton of engines. Thankfully mine is post-sludge era and gets full synthetic but I have fixed quite a bit over the years.

Door check strap x3, alternator, serpentine pulley x2, hydraulic piston for top x1, hood release cable/lever, trunk lift pistons, coil pack x2, fuel injector x1, I’m sure there are other things but just a little odds and ends you wouldn’t think of.

Hey, even if the response was negative who cares? As long as you are having fun then that's all that matters anyways! How does the autostick thing work? Like do you just take an automatic and rig it up somehow to shift manually? Do they make a kit or something for that?

Exactly, I’ve never had a negative comment in person - just the ones hiding behind the internet.

Autostick you basically take an autostick equipt dash and shifter from a Stratus or Sebring, swap them with yours, splice in two wires, power and ground then there you go. It’s already built for autostick they just have it as an option for some models.

I’ve had it for at least the last 8 years and have used standard automatic maybe 10 times. Clutchless shifting has all the benefits of manual shifting it’s just missing a pedal.

I can help :D if sesame street taught me anything, every story has a beginning, middle, and an end”

The Red Suby. Bought stock except wheels. Cleaned up and riding on WRX wheels. Then whole new front bumper, RS wheels, new engine, and roof rack. Sold for an overall profit.

Kinja'd!!!

The Silver Suby. Bought used an abused. Then I crashed her. Then after being all fixed up for a year or so the trans died and it was sold for every so slightly more than I originally paid for her.

Kinja'd!!!

The Civic. Bought as a certified used car by my wife for my wedding present. Stock in every way, even an automatic. Engine swapped for much more go, riding on SI wheels. Current day she has a bunch of accessories visually, and is completely different except for the metal and glass from the original car.

It would be great without front plate.

Oh so it's an option available for that particular car. I wonder how popular it is? I have never seen one but it sounds kinda interesting. Does it have like a dual clutch setup? I wonder if other cars have used this as well.

Pretty much every Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep with an auto has it now. From what I was told it’s an electronically controlled transmission and all you’re doing is telling it when to shift. I think it’s pre-dual clutch setup though.

Oh wait, is this just one of those tiptronic type things with the +/- on the side?

Kinja'd!!!

I was thinking you meant something like this out of a Honda Jazz in Europe:

Yeah its like the triptonic one. Honda’s looks fancy. I guess Chrysler just decided to name it Autostick to be fancy

Well that Honda semi-auto thing is some weird European thing. I recall Mr Demuro writing about a car he had rented with one someplace over there. But yeah that makes sense then, I have always found those tiptronic things to be so unresponsive. It is like you are suggesting the gear change instead of commanding it to do so.

Upshifting you do have to anticipate. So lay into the revs and trigger it a few hundred RPMs before you want it to shift. Downshifting is pretty immediate and brings the revs up fast but without risk of grinding the gears at least.
