Lets hope that exhaust note is not finalized yet....yeeash. Also, don’t go in deep water like this, for example.
I’m sure when the calibrations are done they will make a very nice sounding engine wide open, but this EB engine sounds like dump compared to the 6.2, or at least it does now.

Deep water doesn't bother me off reading if you take a yardstick and know the depth

Too bad no diesel tho

Probably are using a regular ecoboost exhaust which are pretty damn quiet

I think it's really ugly.

it thinks YOU’RE pretty ugly! Nah, im just kidding, I don’t know how it feels about ways and stuff. I don’t think this is close to final though.

This is a Raptor in deep water, thanks to the US Border Patrol in Texas.

Couldn’t even hear the engine. Lame. As for the final version, I’m sure it’ll sound good coming out of anything but a truck.

I hope not. The flares on the front don't merge well with the headlights and it all looks choppy.

I have a feeling the tires aren’t the only things getting soaked in this picture. If they made it through that I think they should count themselves lucky and then buy a snorkel.

I’m sure you’re right.

I’m sure they’ll fix that in the production version.

Wow that Dyson has some serious offroading capability!

I hope they fix it.

I mean, it is a pre-production prototype, so it’s probably plastic or fiberglass over real body panels anyway...

Just remember it’s not a wet dry vac so avoid water off roading if you can
![]() 08/20/2015 at 19:13 |

That reminds me, what is wrong with that water entrance/transit?
![]() 08/20/2015 at 19:16 |

Did that warning say “avoid water higher than the bottom of the hubs”? Thats pretty lame.

It goes without saying the only good sounding Ecoboost lump is the one in the GT. Ecoboost will never sound good. They’re taking a page outa Porsche’s current 911 Turbos and going for that Dyson sound. -_-

It’s a prototype, yo. Raptor fender flares tacked onto a standard F150 body/fascia. The production version is (pretty much) this:

Ughhhh it irks me so much. The EB in the GT sounds decent but it just isn’t right coming out of that particular car! This is America! Our halo supercars have 8+ cylinders!

Because its a development mule. It’s nowhere close to a finished product

Am I the only one who actually likes some turbo whistling noises? :P

To be fair that’s what it also says in the Tacoma manual. Breathers?

The urge to pump engine noises into the vehicle, and the crushing soullessness of most modern vehicles is horrifying. Not too mention this looks so regular that the whole point of the Raptor is lost.
![]() 08/20/2015 at 19:48 |

True, although tbh I was more expecting diesel clatter from the sound of your comment...
![]() 08/20/2015 at 19:54 |

It sounded quiet. I’m finding that I like that more and more as I get older.
Fording (Hah!) depth could be better. Below the hubs would mean they don’t recommend deeper water than 15” to 17”?
![]() 08/21/2015 at 10:11 |

I guess its possible that either they say that to absolve themselves of liability, regardless of what the vehicle can do, or they say that because there aren't actual breather lines on the diffs, but just a valve which would get submerged.
![]() 08/21/2015 at 11:02 |

My guess is both
![]() 08/24/2015 at 12:49 |

To be fair it said TRY to avoid water higher than the bottom of the hubs
![]() 08/24/2015 at 12:50 |

OH look water, could be deep...it is, well I tried to avoid deep water but it just happened.
![]() 08/24/2015 at 12:56 |

Hahaha.
entire list of reasons why it’s disappointing that the recommended depth is only that deep...
