Here’s a quick photo dump of my visit to Cars & Coffee here in Western New York. Next month I’ll take more pictures, but I was in a hurry to get home. Our house is officially on the market and we had to get ready for an open house.

My 5 yr old daughter came over to tell me she wanted this Lotus to be her first car! Guess that’s what happens when you bring your kids to enough car shows! She has good taste.

I’ve never seen this white car before, so I was intrigued by it’s presence.

Yeah we’re not in a rush, but we need a 4th bedroom if we want to have another kid soonish. Just planning ahead really. We needed to get back to Buffalo, NY last year and that’s why we chose this house. I love the house and if it had a 4th bedroom I don’t think we’d consider moving. Either way we’re not in any giant rush, but we have to start somewhere.

It’s at the Orchard Fresh the 3rd Sunday of every month. Starts at 8 or 9am and goes to about noon.

Yeah it had a really wide variety of cars and few asshats. Only one Maserati (Ghibli) pulled out of the parking lot aggressively.

Well good luck to ya. Hopefully you find just as awesome of a garage.

Complete Non-sequitir, but since summer is coming to a close in a rapidly short fashion, if you haven’t visited it already and you want some awesome ice cream, go visit Lake Effect in Lockport.

Yeah they sell it in Wegmans now, so I’ve tried it. A friend of mine has an Ice Cream truck, and used to carry it too. Definitely awesome ice cream.

But have you had their ice cream sandwiches yet? The ones that use two 5” diamater cookies?

Oh boy, that’s an entire meal in and of itself.

I guess maybe the M5 and Cosworth are buddies/ The same person? The two showed up at WGI’s vintage GP. The greasy tater cam pics I posted ween’t nearly as good. I don’t know which I’d want more.

I have been reading Jalopnik since 2008, and I have been complaining about the lack of enthusiast-oriented events in the Buffalo, NY area for even longer; how did I not know about this?!?!

I live in Orchard Park, LESS THAN THREE BLOCKS from this parking lot!!! I literally learned how to operate a manual transmission in that very same parking lot!

How often does this happen? Is it happening again this season? I must attend!

It is not being publicly marketed. It is open to whoever wants to show up and it is hosted by WNY Exotics. There should be another one on the third Sunday of September with potential plans for another in October (depending on the weather). I plan to be there with my FX50 and maybe I can get a friend to bring is ‘78 C10, and my brother to bring is copper/brown Saab.

What are the options?

Kinja'd!!! Jake Girardet > ArmadaExpress drives a turbo outback

Well, I have three; a 1995 Audi 90 Quattro, a 2001 Audi S4, and a 1972 BMW 2002.

The BMW seems the obvious choice, but I noticed there were actually two of them (at least) at this most recent meet, so it may not be the most interesting thing to bring.

The S4 is the last of the generation with the twin turbo six, and is heavily modified. It’s my daily driver.

The ‘95 is a fairly ordinary car by most measures, but they were actually quite rare in this country, and it was right before Audi really became popular, so very few people are at all familiar with them. It was my very first car, and currently has 250,000 miles, but is in great shape for the mileage.

Of those candidates, what would you most like to see?

Also, what kind of Saab does your brother have?

That’s a very though question. Maybe the Audi 90 Quattro or the 2002. I like the heavily modified cars, but you can’t appreciate all the modifications at a glance usually. Too bad you don’t have a second driver to bring another car, lol.

My brother has had so many saabs that I really don’t recall which one it is. It’s a two door if I recall correctly and its a rare bronze, brown, sort of color. When he bought it, it didn’t have the correct engine in it, so he’s replaced it and he continues to tinker with it.

Ok, thanks for your input. You make a good point about the S4. I think I will probably take the 2002 this time, and maybe give the Audi’s each a turn next season at some point. If you see a ‘Malaga’ (maroon) colored 2002 next month, be sure to stop by to say hi! I will be on the look out for your FX50.

Your brother’s Saab sounds awesome. You should definitely try to convince him to come, I would love to see that, too.

The reason you didn’t hear about this was because of the dummy responsible for organizing this did not have

A. THE proper permits for such a sizable venue.

B. Organizational skills that a child running a lemonade stand would have.

C. The “know how” to realize that A LOT of businesses were inhibited due to the size of the event, and the lack of vision of the scope of this festival could bring.

D. A lot of people were late for work due to this event..including myself.

E. The unauthorized use of drone photography (not relevant but yeah, we all saw the drone dummy).

F. The absolute rude way these car enthusiasts treated some of the staff at these businesses, that they desended upon, wow guys, wow. Then myself as a customer, and a witness to these grown mussel car men, who ought to be really ashamed..nice guys..nice..I hope you all blow a rod.

Finally G, You would think the “organizer” a college graduate, would have a handle on these kinds of things being as they are ultimately “in charge”, with an event of this potential magnitude. That this “adult” is now in a position of responsibility, duty to their respective supporters, and having due diligence against potential liabilities for any inconvenience that this event has brought upon the town of Orchard Park.

First nice day of spring, what could go wrong??

Addressed to you Mr. You Know Who You Are: Life lesson learned SON, enjoy the fines, I’m sure you’ll have your day in court.

I was only able to make it the September 2015 Event, and I was really busy that day so I could only stay until about noon. I didn’t see anything wrong while I was there, but it did seem like there were an awful lot of vehicles there for such a relatively small parking lot. I imagine it was (or would have been - I’m not sure how long this has been going on) a perfect venue back before Orchard Fresh opened up, because the other two or three stores in the plaza very rarely had more than a couple of vehicles each.

Am I to understand from your post that these events will no longer be held here? Did something go wrong at this past weekend’s event? I completely forgot that yesterday was the third Sunday of the month until this morning when I got to work, and I was kind of lamenting that I had missed another one. Also, just out of curiosity, how did these events make you late to work? When I was there, the attendees were taking up a good portion of the lot, but it was definitely still passable. Vehicles were coming in and out of the plaza unimpeded the whole time I was there. Any information or answers you can provide will be very much appreciated, thanks.
