This is a very difficult game at the beginning. I can’t play for five minutes without someone dying. They need food, but there’s not enough power. Either a) I let someone starve to death while the power stations work their magic, or b) I rush the job and get radroaches that kill everybody.
Elder Lyons has been dead all day because he’s so damn expensive to revive, and I just need a gym so people can make power faster...

Yep, it’s pretty fun. Working on maxing out all of my dwellers’ SPECIAL stats right now.

I didn’t really have a problem starting up. You just need to know where to put your people and the rush them till their skin and bones

Wha? I never had anyone die inside my vaults and I’m on my third one now. You just need to populate slowly and keep things optimized with people’s abilities and assignments. It also helps to stick a second elevator shaft at the very back so you can build rooms that will fill a 3 block space but start producing in them with one or two blocks while not making the rest of the floor unusable while you wait for more caps.

I had the exact opposite experience. For basically a month nothing happened to any of my folks, there were bandits and whatnot but my peeps promptly dealt with them and got down to business. Only recently after a month or so has anyone died, some deathclaws broke in and they don’t stay in any one room long enough to get shot up so a few of my cafeteria workers bought the big one. Until now however it was just click, resources, click, level-up, etc.

Still, it pisses me off when I only have a 4% chance of failure.... and I fail.

My problem is they can’t defend themselves at all. I’ll rush them like three times and then everyone is dead.

I had one person die from raiders in the beginning. Then I figured out scouting. Got guns and outfits.

When I first started playing I would rush all the time, I’d start out with like a 20% chance of failure and succeed time, and time again! Now if I rush and have like an 8% chance I fail, and fail, and fail, either they’ve tweaked rushing or I’ve suddently become the most unlucky overseer ever :(

My guys have only ever found three really horrible pistols. I got a flamethrower from a lunchbox, but it’s on a dead guy right now...

I had that problem too. I had too many buildings. If you don’t have the people to sustain them, they’ll use too much power and you’ll never be able to claw any resources together. And rushing will kill you. Demolish some buildings until you have only what you need, you’ll have to build it up again slowly once you have lots of people.

Here’s another screenshot of the bottom of the vault. Training rooms run down the left side, while I have room to expand production rooms on the right if need be. There are about six rows of rooms between this screenshot and the first one.

I’ve been having a ball and am mildly obsessed.
