It’s been a while, but I now have the beast on the road, insured and registered! It drives like a dream, really comfy and FAST.
There have been a few things with it that I just find hilarious, but the most important one is definitely this tape that came with the car:
It’s essentially an owner’s manual read to music, but it’s so classically 80s with hilarious stock music that I just had to share it. Here’s the dubs on YouTube, bad tape quality and all. Side 1 is the manual, side 2 is stock music.

I thought when you bought a new Jaguar they sent Jeeves over to read the manual to you. I must be getting Jaguar and Rolls mixed up.

There is a guy about a mile from me with an XJS V12. We have talked about him selling it from time to time. If he does tell me it is for sale, what should I watch out for. I’m a sucker for that V12 and don’t want to make any expensive mistakes if he offers it.

Yes, but will you turn it into a train!?

Nah... Jeeves only comes after you buy a Rolls Royce.

It’s good they have the talking book version of the owners manual... for all those blind Jaguar owners out there.
LOL

I thought I might be getting the two mixed up.

Well rust would probably be an obvious one. My car has loose steering rack bushings which I need to replace, and that is probably gonna be a tedious job, so make sure the steering rack is nice and tight. If it’s a convertible, make sure all the windows work and that they seal properly, and make sure there aren’t too many rips in the top. I’m no expert on these things, but that’s what I would look for! Those and all the usual things.

This is a SW car so rust is probably not going to be an issue. It’s a hardtop. Steering and front end wear are always one of my inspections on any car. Thanks.

It’s a fun car! I’ll be jealous of your flying buttresses.
