For a while now on-and-off, I’ve been looking for an old U.S. magazine article about the Skyline GT-R. It was my first real exposure to the car, long before Gran Turismo came out. I used to subscribe to Car and Driver, so I figured it was in C/D. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Anyway, at the time I found the weird JDM Corvette to be almost as interesting, what with its weird split red/amber and red/white taillights, reflectors in the bumper, amber side markers, and even fender flares to ensure proper tire coverage. Yet, it’s still LHD.

My first thought was “That supra looks odd without the giant wing.”
Didn’t have to read far to figure out why.

I want an R33. I’ve read/heard that they aren’t as sharp as the R34, but the R33 is the only skyline I want in GT-R trim, the R32 and R34 I’d rather than in GTS-T trim (or whatever the RB25DET with RWD is)

My second thought was it’s really funny to read them rave about the C4 corvette in this article compared to how panned it seems to get these days.

That is probably one of the best looking C4 Corvettes I have ever seen!

Seriously. The R33 is such an awesome car, but living in California makes owning one essentially impossible.

The funny thing in all this is how people see the LT1 C4 today considering it as a “slow” car because it’s not an LT4 or an LT5, yet, at the same time, consider the R33 GTR or the Supra as “fast” :)
And it doesn’t matter how close all 3 cars are in reality!!
The ignorance of people is pretty awesome though as it allowed me to own a 1995 C4 for next to nothing :)

People who say the LT1 C4 is a “slow” car and that only the LT5 or the LT4 are worth anything have obviously never even driven a LT1 in their life :)
It’s a fast car. One that you can also happen to own for next to nothing thanks to the ignoramus everywhere haha

I’m horribly biased, but I prefer mine ;)
Those wheel arches are kind of weird...
I miss it... terribly...

Yours is quite nice! I’m sorry, but I do kind of prefer the JDM one. Those split tail lights and the wheel arches!

Yeah the split taillights is pretty cool :)
But after seing a JDM Corvette in person (I live in Japan), it looks really really weird due to the wheel arches... It’s just way too big for it.

I’m pretty sure that all ‘95 maximas came with RHD and AWD Twin turbocharged powertrains. (/lies you can get away with where I live)

Looks cleaner IMO

I wish I could find some better pictures of a JDM Corvette to know exactly what you are talking about. Perhaps I do need to see it in person.

It really looks ugly as fuck... Look at that massive gap on the ffront wheel in the first picture lol...
Not even a real ZR-1 btw...

Not in love with the gap, but I am in love with the tail lights and the flares above the rear wheels. Not a real ZR-1 though? Ooooo..... and the exhaust pipes look bad. 6/10. Thank you for the pictures, by the way!

No, not a ZR1, it’s a basic LT1, like mine (but this one is automatic... :( )
Zr1 have a wider rear fender, different wheels and a third brake light on the top of the rear window :)
And yeah, those exhaust look like shit... Japanese and their custom exhausts all the time... Annoying :)

Autotragic. 5/10.
I may have seen a real ZR-1 the other day then. Five spoke wheels, right? Also, they were really wide to the point of almost sticking out past the quarter panels. I saw a badge on the lower end of the rear bumper, but I was skeptical about it being real.
