@dougdemuro I’m gonna miss the ole girl, beloved keypad entry and all. The explosion was FANTASTIC, showering oil, and chunks of metal all over the highway and under the car. R.I.P.

It was only a matter of time, RIP old girl.

That sucks. Junkyard or parting out? I only ask because my brother has a 2004 with the same color scheme, and always looking for parts.

It’s getting a “new” junkyard-sourced 4.0, and being put to use as a shop runabout vehicle for my father’s company. It shall live again!!

That scares me a bit. Did the SOHC blow a head gasket?

No, it blew the entire bottom end of the motor to smithereens. Quite fantastic, actually, and ALL over the highway. It sounded like I was doing about 70mph down a gravel road when it happened, and the oil pan (for the most part) was missing. Hole in the side of the block as well. It had a terrible knock that was progressively worsening over the past 2,000 or so miles, and today was just its dying day. It had been burning a quart of oil every week or less for the two weeks before I left, and since I returned from our road trip.
