For me it is slightly over 1000 miles, from Blairsville, PA to Milton, FL(Would’ve been slightly less than 1000, but got very lost). I got to drive through a snow and ice storm, which was fun.

Seattle - Santa Barbara for Coachella back in 2006 on a 2005 GSX-R 750. Started at 5AM, made it to my destination at 11:30PM. It finally started to rain for the first time on the trip with 30 minutes to go.

1,120 miles.

Ha! I’m not far from Blairsville. About an hour and a half or so. Been there a few times.

Farthest I’ve driven in one day is probably to North Carolina. Only about 500 miles, but it’s still an 8+ hour drive.

I once made if from just west of Nanaimo, BC to Saskatoon, SK in 27 hours, so a little more than a day. That’s including the ferry crossing and a bunch of stops that had to happen because I was travelling with family (including my one-year-old nephew) who insisted on stopping for decent sit-down meals and some baby sorts of things. That’s just over 1000 miles. Google says it should take 19 hours straight through, so allowing an extra eight hours for like, four two-hour meals? Seems reasonable.

I’ve done 20+ hours more times than I can remember. I’ve done 30+ a few times just the last year. I think the longest miles wise was Detroit to Riverside, which was about 2,300 miles. Got there at midnight, helped wrench on a COE, slept for one hour, then drove a ‘59 Pontiac Safari wagon to las vegas. I’ve done Detroit to Vegas or the other way around a couple times. Then as part of this I went NOLA to San Diego in one shot which was made worse by 4hrs of Houston traffic.

About 1100 miles over the course of 20 hours .

I left Michigan, drove through Ohio, and into Pennsylvania to pick up some crap. It was a paid solo errand, and I wanted to get it all done at once. I stopped only for gas, restroom, or food to-go. I spent maybe 20-30 minutes loading in Pennsylvania, then immediately returned to Michigan.

During the trip, I felt no ill effects until the trip was nearly over. After driving about 18.5 hours, I looked at my hands, which were steering, but they seemed to be doing it automatically. I was awake, I was aware, and yet, it felt like I wasn’t driving. I was watching someone’s hands steer the Tundra, holding to the center of the lane just fine. Of course they were mine, but the best way I can describe it is to say it’s like my eyes were connected to my hands, without the brain being between them. Autopilot.

An hour or so later, with about 19.5 hours of driving behind me, I was nearing the end of my trip. Only then did I encounter “highway hypnosis”, suddenly not remembering the last 3 (freeway) miles. I returned home and the trip ended without incident.

Ugh. Twenty hours. Not doing that again.

With a friend — Almost exactly 1800 miles in almost exactly 24 hours. Stopped only for gas and gas-station junk food. Went from Lexington, KY to Chandler, AZ. https://goo.gl/maps/tXEBX

By myself — About 1060 miles in about 19 hours. Drove from Apache Junction, AZ to Dallas, TX in one go. Continued the next day to Jackson, MS. Could have probably made it all the way to Jackson in one stretch, but I went the long route through Amarillo (I can’t drive cross country, and NOT stop at the Big Texan!), and wound up sucking up water in Dallas, frying my MAF and leaving me broken down until morning. https://goo.gl/maps/PCAEQ

Apparently, in Dallas, the interstate becomes a river when it floods! Police were actually blocking the on-ramps, not letting anyone else on. I could barely see out my windshield. I was actually doing a decent job, careful on the throttle, and staying in the highest lane — until a lifted bro truck flew past me on the right, sending a tidal wave over my car. All the electrics started to freak, lost power immediately, and the car never ran right afterwards.

Houston, TX to Harrisonbug, VA. 1,278 miles, ~24 hours. That was back in 1989 when speed limits were lower, and I left at about 10 o’clock at night and arrived the following night. I was in grad school in Houston, my fiancée was still in school in VA.

This past summer, though, I drove from Mammoth Cave, KY to Austin, TX. 946 miles, 16 hours. And that was in a van with my wife and three boys. That was the last day of a 3717 mile driving vacation that I drove every mile of. Last November, we drove from Crossville, TN to Austin, which was slightly longer (974) but my wife shared the driving.

Sounds a bit like the bus rides we took when I was in the pep band in college and had to attend the basketball tournaments. Our band was small, really a jazz band (about 15 players). The cheerleaders had the back of the bus with their pom-poms and Walkmans, we had the front of the bus with our huge fish coller full of beer, liquor and other, shall we say, combustibles. Hell of a trip. No idea if we won the game or not. 10/10. Would do again.

When I was moving out of my college dorm in Boston MA, my mom, dad, and I drove to St Louis MO in one go. That’s in the ballpark of 1200 miles. Took about 20.5 hours in total with fuel ups, food, and light traffic in NY. Legitimately wasn’t too bad, but I’d never do it again. We had a giant moving van, and we took turns driving, navigating, and sleeping on an easily accessible couch in the back.

TheOnelectronic and I have also driven from St Louis MO to Santa Fe NM a few times. Very pretty drive, and interesting to see the transition to and from desert. That one was closer to 1000 miles I think.

Just about 1000. Overnight from Michigan to South Carolina. The first time we did this trip overnight (we’ve done it a few times now) we got there to find out the brake caliper was locked up on the Jeep Liberty we had at the time....so I went straight to my dad’s shop and worked for like 4 hours. Thought I was gonna die lol.

We’ve done it quite a few times, we always go straightthrough, door to door its 992 miles. With stopping for food, gas, and bathrooms, I’m going to guess over 1000

I want to do it in a classic Porsche Turbo. Or maybe a Targa.

There are too many parts of America that you can’t see in a sports car.

In all honesty, I want to drive it in an old FJ40 as well.

New Haven, CT to Tampa, FL. About 1,300 miles and 20 hours. Many 5 Hour Energies were consumed, and at the end I wound up sleeping in a chair in the hotel lobby for about four hours before check-in time.

I’m thinking FJZ80. Capable, reliable, comfortable, and will do highway speeds.

Also, using a three-driver rotation I’ve non-stopped from Manhattan to Prescott, Arizona (~2,600 miles, 37 hours) and Providence, Rhode Island to Portland, Oregon. During the first of those trips I did the shift from Morrilton, AR to Winslow, AZ. 1,100 miles and 17 hours. Driving a sketchy former church van towing a rally car.

The first one would be fun as one week trip or longer.

Oh absolutely. New Mexico and Arizona were gorgeous, and we paralleled Route 66 for four states, which was pretty awesome. Would’ve loved to take it slower, but race car.

That’s my DD advantage, I can’t rush things. Which is also a curse.

This trip taught me that a Kia Cadenza is a great road trip car exempt for one thing. The front seats kill your back. The second time I did this trip I did it in my Altima and it was way more comfortable.
