Can’t you tell? Look at it! The horror!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Seriously though, I’m surprised there is as little damage as there was. I felt bad for the Honda Civic I hit.

Kinja'd!!!

Just before my exit, cars started to get backed up. I thought I had enough distance from the civic in front of me, so I was being cautious and keeping an eye out for the motorcycle behind me. I slowly pressed the brakes, to say “motorcycle lady, I’m not stopping suddenly, please don’t hit me and die”. I looked in front, civic with brake lights coming up fast. I slammed the brakes, but it was too late.

The lesson I learned, even though I’m watchful of my surroundings, i need to be even more attentive, :/. Also, police take too long to arrive....

Pretty much. I immediately checked the engine, and was glad nothing was broken, :).

Damn, that trailer hitch probably didn't help

At first I was like, “Side of the road, the natural habitat of a gm car.” Then I saw the close-up. That sucks, but at least it’s easily concealable/ignorable on your car. The hitch probably helped you both, as it kept the Civic from riding up and stay a bit more planted on your bumper, but could have caused more frame damage if pushed too much. I was involved in a similar accident when I started driving where I had a Lexus ES rear end me and wound up with my exhaust pipes on top of its hood because we both braked hard to avoid a sudden stoppage in front of us but he was following too closely and hit me. The worst part about it was that his insurance company had me go to a skeevy body shop that did a fine job color-matching the paint, but a bad job at installing the new rear bumper cover, and used the wrong exhaust pipe for my trim level.

I really want to ‘nose’ popped back out, it’s irritating me, :/. Besides that, I can live with it. That sucks for you though. I just talked to my insurance, they said I could go to any shop I wanted, as long as I pay the deductible.

is the PT cruiser not working again? Sorry to hear about the accident....what is your deductible? Otherwise, how are you liking the Grand Prix?

Correct, it is not working again. The PCM is failing. The deductible is $500, but i don’t think repairs are our first order or business, the car is runnable as is and we are being cheap right now.

I’m loving the prix. I have a ‘07 base model with most of the bells and whistles installed. It’s design is a bit quirky, but I like quirky. It’s what drew me to the pt. It isn’t fantastic on the dirt roads though, it’s too low to the ground. If given a chance, I’d buy another one, :).

so the PT stands for Part time? Sorry to hear about your troubles but that’s all a part of life. I had a Grand Prix as a rental like yours years ago...it was also red....was pretty nice. Body damage drives me crazy....some ass hat opened a door into the side of my brand new car twice (3 WEEKS OLD) last week and left 2 creases in the metal.....just had the paintless ding repair guy out yesterday to fix it...

Yeah, it’s a part of life, :/.

The way I see it, the body always has a chance to get damaged, especially when your drive it anywhere. Though the broken ‘nose’ does look weird and irritates me. But the pt has a busted bumper from when I hit a patch of ice and went into a small ditch. I’m not really looking at the resale value, but how useful it is at that moment. It's the best way to look at it when your wallet has limited funds and you need to be picky on what you should fix, :/
