what are the big questions I should be asking about v70R’s?

Every R breaks. Transmissions seem to be especially weak points and a normal transmission is not available.

I’ve done a fair amount of investigation of Rs in the past couple of weeks. I would say that price is too high.

But god, it’s still sexy.

my wife is getting sick of the boy racer look. she said she would never want to drive that to the playground with the kids. i think the v70R would give me the fun (level 9 vs 10 for the WRX) but have a more sophisticated look. Its also larger. the WRX meets the requirements but just barely.

The owner of that Volvo shop is a total car nut. I think it’s run by his son now but they have an amazing car collection. Apparently back in the day he bought a Porsche 718 RSK Spyder for next to nothing and now they’re worth $3,000,000. He also has a 356 and a 914/6 along with a Volvo 242 race car and some other stuff.

yea, but the toy still needs to be family functional. She hates the WRX and says I look like a child in it. I’m still trying to explain to her that men, despite being 30, are still children. She wants a Mazda 5 but I think those are going to be smaller than she thinks. The Escape is getting to the point where everything is starting to fall apart and we do need something with 6 or 7 person capability.

My dad had a V70 T5. He said it was one of the best cars he ever owned. Drove nice, practical, and still pretty fast. However, he sold it to buy an Accord because it was one of the least reliable cars he has ever owned (he’s had over 20).

tl;dr Good car, expect high repair bills.

Their shop is pretty small so they probably won’t have those cars there... but I know they drive them regularly so who knows

Mazda5 definitely is smaller than she thinks in the same way a Fit is larger than people think.

Find a Forester XT. I’ve spot checked for them in the past because, as we can see by some owners in this group of fine individuals, they look pretty sweet.

well i’m near boston so the chances of me getting there are pretty slim unless teleporters suddenly are a thing.
