And by all the accounts I’ve read a really nice man.

Your picture real hits me in the feels since my first car was a ‘72 Gran Torino. That picture has me wondering if maybe I could find another one.

I own a 1973 Gran Torino Sport Q-Code and another Guy on here The Paxtonmobile just got one as well. There is a site, GranTorinoSport.org is where you should look for one we have a few for sale!

This time it would definitely be a Sport with the fastback and no vinyl roof. I’d also skip the puke green exterior and dark green interior. The one I had as a kid was born with a 351W which was dead when it was given to me and I put a 400M out of a later station wagon in it. It was good enough for a 16 year old kid but now I’d be wanting to put a full bore 429 in that big engine bay.

I would Personally go with a 351C CJ because it just fits right no cutting. Also makes a good amount of HP. Have you seen mine and my buddys 1973s?

I have! They are very sharp looking. I’m not sure why the cutting would be necessary since the 429 was an option? You’re right though that sticking with the Cleveland is a lot less work if the car was a small block car to start with. The weirdest thing about my car was that though it was ordered new with the 2-barrel 351W it had a C6 automatic in it. That transmission would have lasted forever behind that motor.

Maybe there were plans for the motor? Also there is a bit of modifying if you don't get a og 429 car like battery and other things like motor mounts and such cause just about all of those cars were small block cars but dang were they peppy

True enough. Even a smogged out torque motor like the 400 was peppy enough when all of the emission stuff (no cats in ‘72!) was removed and an intake, carb and headers put on it.

Ya, my 1973 doesn’t have much real smog stuff, open chambered heads, 3 degree 428CJ retarded cam(Yes it has a factory CJ cam), and a 780CFM 4bbl Spread bore intake good for 266hp!
