I’ve offered to help some Toronto nutbar restore and modify a basket case E9 and now I’m kinda digging this model that I never even thought about before.

A coworker of mine has one of those just like the lead pic, but blue. Gorgeous car, im doing my best to convince him to keep it.

Actually, I kind of had a similar epiphany that these are overlooked a while back. 2002 posts, E30 posts, 2002 posts, E30 posts - I’m all like “BMW guys - Y U NO E9?”

They’re very popular. With good reason. 3.0CSL (the one you posted) prices are up there, and a good 3.0CSi or 3.0CS is still not super cheap.

E9 prices have always been shocking to me. Isn’t a decent 3.0 CS driver like $35k?

I'm with ya. I would love a classic Bmw as a second vehicle, and am constantly looking at 2002s, E9s, E30, E34, E28, etc. But the Neu Classe and New Sixes are perennial favorites of mine.

I came across one the other day for under $20k for a driver, but that is far and away the lowest I've seen for a 3.0. The 2800cs' are more reasonable, but still not cheap.

The 2800CS is cheaper for a reason. ;)

I’m so torn. I want one so bad, just to kind of putter around in, but I hear anything with the 2-carb setup is just a nightmare. So that means I have to buy a CSL or CSi, which means spending 40 or 50 grand instead of 18 or 20. But I won’t drive it much, so maybe the unreliable one will be fine. But maybe not, and oh my god, I’m losing my damn mind.
