I appreciate what you have been offering regarding my depression, but a little while ago some local cops came by and do a welfare check. It was no big deal, except now my mom is in a tizzy over it and she’s very upset over it. It has honestly made the situation a lot worse and unstable now. Again appreciate it but don’t do it. As I said I have no actual harmful or suicidal thoughts, just a little down and looking for someone to talk to (as I even made clear in my original post).

I’ve seen and read a few of these post of yours, I agree if your made no statements of self harm or harm to others then it’s a non issue.
Depression is natural reaction to fucked up shit and circumstances. It’s a problem when it’s prolonged and having negative effects on your life.
Be sad, it's fine, it's your right, your only human. I always found my remedy for depression was talking to folks and getting lost In a good video game. It's also a great time for a road trip. Those always helped me out as well.

If that’s truly the case, you may wish to be more judicious in your use of phrases like “kill myself”.
People hear that and they (as they should) act. If a family member or close friend of mine said something to that effect and I wasn’t able to reach them myself, I would absolutely seek help from the available authorities without hesitation.

I didn’t do it (wouldn’t know where to send anyhow honestly) but you said you couldn’t get through to the suicide hotline and that you thought it would be better if you just killed yourself.
You can’t say that and then say you didn’t have actual harmful or suicidal thoughts.
That would be like 2+2=37
Though at the end of the day, she’s always upset anyhow right?

This would be a good example of how oppo shouldn’t be your go to source for help. For one thing, we look through a glass darkly over here and have WAY too little information to get a complete picture yet your calls for help give us little recourse but to assume the worst. There is just too much nuance thats lost in translation, such that even thought you think you made it clear that you weren’t in danger, it was anything but. Your post title was about killing yourself, that’s serious enough for someone not intimately familiar with all of your REAL self to take action on. I don’t know if it was oppo, or gawker or other places you’ve posted that resulted in this call (if was a result of that at all), but seriously, we want the best for you and all but we are completely ill equipped to help. The anonymity of the internet is not the safe harbor you need.
Again, we express concern and we want the best for you, but you need to find a more constructive outlet for you to talk things through. I know for a fact there are LOTS of people who have offered to take this offline and talk you through it, take them up on it, make new friends in a much more personal and authentic way. That’s not the best solution in the world because it presents many of the same problems, but it is much more in your control.
PLEASE, for your sake, don’t use oppo as a sounding board for serious emotional distress.

frankly, I think any Kinja, or any website for that matter, is not a great place to take personal issues. We love the internet and it brings us together but we often forget its not real.

Eh, I find GroupThink pretty great when it comes to personal issues. A few members there have helped me out quite a few times when the crap hit the fan (which for me, is an off an on thing until my family gets their act together).
