My Schecter is due for new strings, but I want to clean and oil the fretboard and polish the frets. This will require me to take all of the strings off at once instead of just changing them one at a time to keep the bridge floating.
Here’s my question. If I plan to put the same gauge strings on at the same tuning, can I just take the strings off and let the bridge go back into the cavity while I do the cleaning? Will that screw anything up when I go to put the new set on?

That’s a fancy bridge... No idea.
Whatever happens though, I guess you could just reset the intonation. But I have no idea with that bridge...

It might cause it to start on fire. Or it might not! I don’t know guitars.

It appears you have too many strings!
Anyways, I only have one guitar with a floyd but I’ve taken all the strings off to clean it and dress the frets before, and there was no major re-adjustment needed after I got it all back together.

That's kinda what I figured, but this is my first Floyd-equipped guitar (and first 7-string) so I wasn't sure. Don't want to make more work for myself.

It will be a pain in the ass until you get everything tightened back up (since every string your tighten will loosen the others) but I’ve never had to adjust the springs or anything.
Another trick that works with some - stick a 9V battery under the back (on its side) - it’s about the right size (in mine at least) to hold the bridge close to the right place and keeps the springs from pulling it down into the cavity

Put a block under the back to hold it off the body. Protects the body. Otherwise, shouldn’t have any problems.

It should go right back to where it was with the same gauge strings.
Sweet axe! I have a Schecter 8 string in the exact same finish without the Floyd Rose.

Did that once on my Ibanez. That was fun.
Now I just clean the fretboard one string’s width at a time.

Thanks, I just got it earlier this year. I love it. It's a Damien Elite.

Nope it won't screw up anything at all. I'd try this to really polish up the frets and and fretboard. Get some 0000 steel wool and some Gerlitz Guitar Honey. Follow the directions on the Gerlitz and enjoy a great looking, super clean fretboard.

I’ve done a Floyd Rose equipped guitar exactly like that, and didn’t have any problems. Retuning was a pain in the rear, that’s all.
