As of six o’ clock today (PST), I will be officially 16 years old! That means that I’ve been on Oppo for about a year now...here’s to many more years to come!

I have a permit, waiting on the license...really wish I could have a Saab like that but my parents have basically outlawed Saabs in the household until I’m off their insurance...they are loyal to Volvo, however, which bodes well for me!

16 is a big year. License, car shopping. All that stuff. I’m turning 18 in a few months and let me just say it’s nice to see someone in a similar age group that like cars. That actually is a car enthusiast, not just someone that can mispronounce “Gallardo” and spew inaccurate specifications about the Nissan GTR.

Ironically, I’m past most of that already. I have a drivers permit, 11 hours of driving with my dad, and a rather nice Volvo V50 2.4 sitting in the driveway. I agree that it is great to have a community of several teens here on Oppo who know the importance of cars like the Lancia Delta Integrale and Volvo Polestar series. Far too many of my friends have said, “Why do you even car about cars?” which is really not as bad as those who you mention who mispronounce “Gallardo” or say that everything not a Lambo is “shit”. We are a dying breed, you and me, so I say we take our brown turbo diesel stick shift RWD wagons and do burnouts until no one cares anymore.

I’m born and raised in Northern California, the Bay Area to be exact. I have always found it a bit awkward when someone asks if I want to be called “Alexander” or “Alex” because I really don’t care since at home my mom refers to me by my Chinese nickname... Where in the US are you based?

Usually people ask me if my name is just “Alex” or is is short for “Alexander”. So nothing is perfect! East Coast, Bucks County PA near Doylestown in case you’ve ever heard of it.

Last summer we almost moved out to San Jose CA actually. I’m glad that we didn’t in the grand scheme of things, but if I had to live in CA it wouldn’t be the worst.
