It needs a new exhaust and some body work. It needs new suspension rubber and a more permanent fuel line solution. However, there is only some surface rust underneath and it drives like a little red dream.

Sorry for the terrible craigslist photo.

Originally a California car, it is now on the right coast and the price was right at a low $2700. It runs and cost less than $3k. I’m fairly certain I can put it into boxes and still sell it for what I paid.

Wheels aren’t correct, but I think a set of Rota Shakotan or Cromodoras may be in order. Plans are to strip the tan interior, cap the dash and center console, replace the carpet with black and add a set of 4 or 5 point harnesses to either vintage Recaros or a set of Abarth style seats. Outside the bumpers gotta go and I may replace the mirrors with something more vintage inspired - plus a guard for the oil pan.

Engine wise, I’d love to do a cam swap with a set of dual Weber 40s flowing into a 2” hi-flow exhaust.

These are all things that will take some time. The guy I’m buying it from got a quote to have the body repaired over the winter and it was only $3500. Considering these are a $7500 car when mint, that sounds like it might not be a bad idea.

It really does need some work - it’s a 40-foot car at this point - but it is a long way from the crusher and I can’t wait to start tearing it apart. :)

Some like an Ansi high flow will sound better than a rusted out muffler ;) My intentions are not to put it back to stock, hahahaha.

Shakotans, a loud exhaust, and an air dam would look and sound fantastic on this thing.

Don’t forget the Pinafarina hardtop and Abarth bumperettes...
Also I’m really torn torn between the Cromodoras and the Rotas.

Go for the Rotas. Cromodoras have been done a zillion times before.

Kinja'd!!!

An air dam and Cibies would look good, too.

That really does look awesome. I’m not sure if it’ll stay red yet. This picture makes me think it won’t. And the Cromodoras have been so often because they look so good. This is shockingly enough one of the few cars where I think Minilites don’t work that well.
