I have a feeling that the Veyron SS can still pull another 20 to 40 mph out of itself just by reducing some more weight. Maybe a ton, maybe two, any weight worth shedding must be shed. And then there’s the problem of redistributing that weight. But how much can the Veyron lose while still being able to deliver the same performance ability?

Weight has no bearing on top speed, just power. It would get up there quicker though, might actually handle too with about a 3500lb weight!

Lexan windows, strip the interior,.. and.. uhm.. I think that’s it really. Not sure that’ll give it more than a few mph though. BUT.. if we could skip the whole street legal stuff? Remove headlights, taillights, mirrors and so on, if so.. it could probably get another few mph.

Weight has almost no effect on the Veyron’s top speed. It’s all power vs drag, you’d just need to crank up the boost if you wanted to go faster.

I guess I was looking for the wrong stat. How about a decrease in 0-60 time?

At this level of horsepower, traction not weight would have the greatest effect on a 0-60 time. In this case 0-186 would be a better measure. Several measures saved would be a guess.
Not optimistic about replacement’s weight. :-(x

I’ve wondered for ages what would happen if you threw an extra hundred grand at someone to gut whatever’s possible. Wouldn’t do much for top speed (which is dominated by aero), but think about all that grip in a lighter package.

I would skip on the lexan windows without some serious reinforcements behind it, i’ve seen them curve inwards at speeds around 250+kph.. But yeah, tape up all the joints!

Reinforce them with some strips of aluminium or something :P

Remove taillights
Stuff RATO units into where taillights used to be
Kick the tires and light the fires
Hold on for dear life
Light victory cigar with the rocket nozzles and smoke it because you just won at life

I don’t think there’s that much dead weight in a Veyron SS. There’s not much interior, I think the weight comes from the V16 and all its auxilliaries, and the AWD.
Just my two cents

Replace the W16 and quad turbos with a single turbo Inline six that makes 500-600 horsepower. Use the same manufacturing techniques they used to make the LS7 so that it’s super light.
Then steal the hybrid system off the 918 to make the rest of the HP. Since Porsche and bugatti are part of the same manufacturing group, that’s a thing that could actually happen. I bet a car like this could beat the 918 but only slightly. Going significantly faster would mean making some serious sacrifices not really fit for the market Bugatti is aiming for.
