The Gathering Of Friends is a low-key European & British car show held every year here in San Luis Obispo. A lot of the cars are familiar on the local “circuit” as it were, but there’s always some cool new stuff to ogle that hasn’t been out before. This here’s a photodump, amigos. Prepare yourselves.
59999 Berlinetting Boxers with frippy paddles or something. Blah blah too new, moving on.
Lightly modded Pantera. No engine shots because chrome was blinding:
I’ve mentioned before that I love MG coupes. I love MG coupes. This is an MGC, the 6 cylinder variant. (Thanks, Spridget!)
A well used & loved boattail Alfa:
The colors on this 120 drew me in, a really nice deep brown, and a very high level of work.
Guess what this is:
No? A !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Beeskow. Also one of the local regulars, owned and restored by an avid local collector & client.
Another of the local SSs, from the same barn stash as the gray one below as I understand it.
A stately old Roller:
Good choice, honey, but daddy can’t afford that one (it’s a real 4-cam Carrera GS Speedster!)...
2 Wheels good!
Moggies
Vanquish
Really cool Traction-Avant. For as many of these as are out there, you never see them:
A wonderfully rough Singer Sports Coupe. I’d never seen one, or any Singer, before this:
Interesting color on this 911:
A couple of the local Amazon fanatics:
I have an irrational love for Jaaaaag Mk10s. Such great lines.
I love the 105 series Alfa Berlinas, they don’t get enough respect next to their GTV brethren:
A well used & rough Benz bus... but wait...
What’s under the hood?
The mustache is strong with this one...
Hey, that’s not Yurrupeen!
Love me a good Ponton:
This is my buddy Clint from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ’s 993, built up from a rolled shell. You’d never know, it looks great.
Dat blue
Not often an Esprit comes out to play
Nice to see a 912 done to a high level:
A nicely scruffy 356:
One of the best cars out there to me, a lovely Alfa 2000:
And this... oh, this beastly, glorious Allard. What a machine:
A nice Maserati 3500, one of the regulars:
My buddy Justin of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ’ great barn-find SS. He dailies this car in SLO:
Another local car, love this gray:
VW Service, this way:
My kind of T2 Doka:
The suddenly valuable 190SL:
Terrible pic of a perfect E-type:
A pair of nice TR3s:
Tidy MGA coupe, nice to see instead of the ubiquitous roadsters
Another of the local regular 911s:
This beauty was parked in the weeds outside the show, I think it looks fantastic:

Amazingly one of the more valuable cars at that show.

And beautiful. But I think the 2000GT had them all beat in the value deparment.

Yeah. I’ve been in love with Allards since childhood, and that thing made me weak in the knees.

Love this, glad that something this special was allowed in even as a non european

Yeah, it was great to see. That 2000 was out at our local Concours a couple of months ago as well, it’s just stunning. As I said, it’s a pretty low-key event, and even the normally stuffy guys who show up festooned in marque attire head to toe seem to temper their brand allegiance a bit.

LOVE the burgundy and black two-tone! One of my favorite classic cars, for sure! :)

There is an Allard that used to go to Donuts quite frequently, but I haven’t been in a while.

Sure thing, I didn’t even realize it was happening until too late this year.

This one? I hadn’t seen this car before, but I don’t get to Donuts regularly.

I’ve always really liked the way these looked, I was pleased to see one. Nice colors, for sure.

No, not this one. He had a grey or maybe off white, but it also had patina.

I just want to go to more car things around here.

Sorry to be ‘that guy’, but this is actually a MGC, the 6 cylinder B. You can tell by the hood bulge and chrome strip.

Now I remember being schooled about that before, I never see them so I forget the little details. I didn’t see under the hood so didn’t know one from the others. Thanks for the correction.
