A few days ago, I found myself taking on a small, 17-20 second autocross course in a BMW at one of their Ultimate Driving Events - a 428i and a 328d. Well, as it turned out, there was a bit of competition and - you know what, in the short of it, I found myself being 3 seconds under top 6 podium lap times (6th place had 17 seconds.)
Yeah, I lost.
But strangely, I had a bit of satisfaction as it wasn’t a sloppy run. And hey, who could fault someone for trying their best, no matter what?
I doubt I could get a second run in a different model just to test myself, though.
