What happened to the IRC channel? I went in today and it’s pretty much devoid of all life (it was #oppocah on freenode). Last my logs show was me getting kicked out for being a “newb” (?). Just curious if the channel still exists or if it’s moved somewhere else under new management.

Internet Relay Chat. Ancient protocol for text-based chatting that still manages to be possible. Also supports peer2peer file transfers and used to be popular for piracy before torrents became a thing.

A very old chat platform. I remember using it in the late 90s/early 2000s. I haven’t used it in about 10 or 11 years, but it was pretty basic.
Short for Internet Relay Chat. I didn’t even know Oppo had one, or that IRC was still even around for that matter.

I didn’t know Oppo had a channel at all. I was on IRC *mumble*mumble*beforesomeofyouwereborn*mumble* years ago.

It should still exist, but most people are only active in the evening.

It ebbs and flows as the day goes on. It's usually most active around late afternoon-late evening, west coast time.

It’s just odd that there isn’t even anyone idling in there. I usually stick a bouncer in a channel and leave it there 24/7
