I have a 2002 BMW 520d that is approaching 300k kms. It’s due for an oil change. I’ve googled quite a bit but I cannot find the suggested oil weight that I should use. Also, since this is a higher-mileage oil-burner I’m open to suggestions of non-factory oil weights to help prolong engine life and reduce any blow-by, etc.
Have a Jag MKII for your time:

Do you have the owner’s manual? I think there should be a chart in there somewhere.

Oil is measured in viscosity not mass

It is not a specific weight you need. What you need to find is oil that is has the BMW LL-04 certification. It may be a slightly different weight with different manufacturers.
