My booger welds.
This was my first time welding, so go easy on me. But what does everybody think? I think for my first time I did okay.
It sounds great, not too droney and not too loud either. It sounds very truck like now. Although the glasspack does sit a bit lower than I’d probably like, I may remove the mounting bracket and move it up later in the week.

What kind of welder did you use?
Pretty good looking welds for a first timer though!

MiG, and thanks

You used a lot less booger than what I’m used to seeing. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure if that’s good or bad.
Regardless, kudos!

Why bother wasting time and effort welding in a bendy straw?
![]() 07/28/2015 at 12:59 |

Cuz emissions, they have to have a place to put the test stick

Y U NO EXHAUST CLAMP??

CUZ WELDING MORE BETTER

Should have just gotten a good 90, two band clamps and some sealant.

lies and deceit.

That is a 90

Yes, but one that looks like a bendy straw. It’s not going to help your exhaust flow at all.
![]() 07/28/2015 at 13:14 |

Won’t hold up to much abuse, but it’s exhaust so as long as it doesn’t leak it should be fine. If it does, there’s always clamps.

Its what we had on the shelf at oreillys, it works

looks like my truck only much smaller diameter. and i have no muffler whatever
put mine together with exhaust clamps and welded only one spot
![]() 07/28/2015 at 13:30 |

looks like the bendy thing my dryer is connected to. i don’t know anything about welding so I am going to give you a B+ for effort!

Welds look good!
Get that tip closer to the rocker panel.

well well well... this might be timely. I apparently have to go in for emissions tests soon, and usually I slip fit my factory muffler so as to not agitate the testers, been considering having it’s terribleness welded. Wanna do some more practicing? Can only help your welding become less boogery, and I use the piece literally for 30 minutes every 2 years so it doesn’t have to be quality :D
![]() 07/28/2015 at 13:36 |

i know it would have been a lot of effort but you should have done it like this
![]() 07/28/2015 at 13:44 |

According to some laws, your’s(If you are talking about the Powerstroke) already has a muffler, the turbo.
![]() 07/28/2015 at 13:48 |
|
well yes it does. but after the turbo its straight 4in pipe.

Actually I could. I actually really enjoyed myself welding. But it wasnt my welder and I did it on a lift (not my lift either) It belongs to Jake Huitt’s Grandparents. But if I were to ask, they’d surely let you bring your civic by for me to weld the exhaust

Rename them ‘battleship welds’ and be forever happy.

Did you see
my post
last week? I’ve got the Jag axle lined up in the project.

the part isn’t actually on the car, and can be welded off. perhaps I could drop it by sometime?

No sir I did not. Will get to it sharpish.
