Video is not of my fast run, like an idiot I forgot to hit record when I started. This run is .2 seconds slower + a cone.
10 ST’s showed up for the event, happy to say I finished ahead of 2nd by 1.2 seconds.
SMF class is easy for my region but it's not going to be competitive at nationals, has me thinking of getting a car dedicated to auto-x (NOT A MIATA) such as a C5 Corvette since those are very competitive in any class they're in.

That’s 2 cones at 46s and 56s no?

nope just the one at 46. I might have grazed the one at 56, who knows, they said one. Like I said, wasn't my best run from the day.

Not too bad. Looks pretty smooth. Good car placement, but could use a smidge more aggression

Wow that is a fast course! My miata would not do well at that lol.

yeah I got more to learn when it comes to auto-x, 5th event for me. Its a different animal from track events.

Very true it is

they do 3 auto-x’s a year here at my local track, and I'm so happy they do! Sometimes us in non-Miatas want to be fast around a course lol.

I’m not autocrossin yet. But I’ve been thinking corvette for a while, then I just started thinking viper. I’m pretty conflicted. Mata is fine for me now tho.

Yes it would... It’s all about maintaining momentum, and that’s the real challenge of driving a Miata
I think this was the most recently I’ve autocrossed a Miata

You’re going to SCCA Nationals?

I’ve heard the Corvette is even more competitive than a Miata depending on what class you’re in, also what type of setup your region prefers. I’m thinking Corvette since I’m on the track more than I auto-x.

Nope, not worth it. The Focus ST is only competitive in G-street. I would only think about going to Nationals because they're here in Nebraska. But I think I have a FV race the weekend Nationals start anyways.

I love how well people can do in a Miata. I feel pretty slow in comparison.

I’ll ne at Nationals... in G-street in a 16 GTI Performance Pack or a STR 1984 911.... both are on the Jesus Tires

It’s so fun to drive a miata fast

Jesus Tires?
One of the ST guys from my region will probably be there in G-Street. He’s fast, yesterday was the first time I’ve been able to post a better time than him and I’ve done so much more to my car.

Jesus Tires = Bridgestone Potenza RE71R. They’re ungodly grippy and have high tolerance for slip angles
You saw my video from my post. I have them on my M3. They’re the “it” tire this year for “200 treadwear”

I had a feeling that’s what you meant! Those are my next summer tires. Would already them if my car wasn’t put in SMF based on it’s mods. Basically 3 classes the ST’s can run. GS, STX, DSP and SMF. Cant run an aftermarket intercooler in STX (the most needed upgrade on the ST). My buddy runs them on his 350z Nismo but he doesn’t push his car nearly enough.

The miata is fun, but yup, I want more power. For 30kish I could do corvette or viper. Always leaned to the corvette till I started Craigslistin vipers nearby.

If you plan on modifying your future car I would get a Corvette everytime over the Viper.
