He’s such a smart dude. I’d love to just sit down and have a conversation with him. I like his music, and I really don’t even like rap because of how stupid a lot of it is.

His shit is deep, and very real. If you listen to a song called Sing About Me there is no glorification of the life that he lived.

That’s why I like it so much. Good Kid, MAAD City was kind of a reflection on his youth and how he really was a good kid, but heavily influenced by his peers and his surroundings. To Pimp a Butterfly was equally as good, I think, because it showed that he didn’t let success change him, unlike so many other rappers. I feel like he might be a black supremacist in some respects, so I can’t say I agree with everything in his music, but it’s definitely some great food for thought.

The first few listens to To Pimp A Butterfly were jarring, considering I’d been listening to Good Kid for the past couple years. But it’s much more raw and introspective and I really enjoy it.
Differences between albums are pretty great. Look at
Lonerism
by Tame Impala and compare it to
Currents
, which was just released. Different sound on both, but each is fantastic and shows the range of musical talent.

I have never been a big Kendrick fan. I like him when featured on songs but never his own stuff
