Forgive me father for it has been two weeks since I last properly cleaned a car (quick detailed three but that’s all) and I’m having withdrawals.

I use a brand of products which are designed for purpose, no added scents to make it smell nice in the bottle and no added colouring to make it look good in a bottle, some added scents and colours actually compromise a product and so further engineering is required to then remove the actions of the scent or colouring.

A guy on another forum has said a serious company would scent and colour a product and engineer it out which would increase lead time on the product not to mention costs incurred which would then increase the product cost to recoup some of the money sooner while I’ve said why put it in to make it smell and look good to then have to rework it when the product works without the scent or colouring.

The brand in question is highly regarded in many areas and this guy is doing my head in with inane babble and even says why use a certain sealant when you can use a QD. I want to go out to eastern Europe and go round his house and slap him around the head while shouting, because... they... are... different... products....

Sorry all, rant over.

No Gtechniq. I've used their products for years now. They don't add scents or colours for the sake of adding them if it may impair the qualities of it, just honest products.

So wait, they put the scents in so they can then take them out?

This hurts my brain.

Speaking of, I need to wash my damn car. Although it ticks me off a little because of how thin the paint is. I get sad every time I wash the car and see more rock chips. And the car is 5 months old.

You have reminded me I should pressure wash my car soon. No svending over here unfortunately haha. I did however grid off and repaint the bottom of my rocker panels. That’s something right?

Yeah. I meant the shit you DON’T like :) hehe.

But I probably should not diss meguiar’s, I’ve been using Autoglym since the late nineties and they are somewhat hyped as well.

No some scents and colours create problems with products which the problems then have to be removed by adding something else.

Say a glass cleaner. It maybe a great glass cleaner but by adding a colouring agent to make it look nicer to the eye in a clear bottle, may cause the product to smear.

How thin is you pain? Typically paint is around at least 120 microns thick with under half of that being clearcote.

Lol. Sorry fella. Ye', I've never got on with them and though Autoglym is okay from a general automotive store there are some of their line I would never touch again.

The only reason I use Autoglym is because I get it cheap, cheaper than turtle wax :P

A quick wash and spray with a Quick Detailer will work wonders.

Yes, that is something. ;)

Price is a big swaying factor in product purchase and I always keep an eye out for deals.

Got 5litres of Quick Detailer coming tomorrow. 250ml is £5.99 while 5litres is £37.94.

It'll take a while to get through but to compare £23.96 per litre for 250ml to £7.58 a litre for 5litres is a no brainer in my books.

I hate when scents are added. I used one popular car wash product, and it attracted bees evertyime I washed a car.

I don't know how thin my paint is, the vehicle in question is a 2015 Civic though. I had rock chips two days after I got the car, and was not following a gravel truck. If there ever was a car that was an advertisement for a reason to get the 3-m clear bra, this would be it.

I have a car shampoo that smells of cherry. It doesn’t hinder the performance of the product because it leaves to residue or gloss enhancers and so will get taken off with the rinse anyway. It’s always smelt of cherries for the last eight to 10 years.

Products that people feel they should add scents like fallout removers which absolutely stink have had there effectiveness reduced because of the smell, so you need to use more and so prolonging the smell rather than just getting it over and done with.
