Hey guys so 6 days ago I bought my first new car a 2015 Focus ST in Oxford White ST1 package with a sunroof. Im coming from a 2002 Ford Mustang V6 automatic, wow what a difference. I made the decision to purchase an ST after getting a new job where I have to drive 80 miles roundtrip. I did the calculations and hilariously getting an ST, paying for gas, and a payment is cheaper then just paying for gas with my mustang.
I spent months deciding between getting a FiST with recaros or a FoST ST1 with just a sunroof, I ended up with the FoST due to it having more space (6’3 here) and being a more adult looking car with a better ride on the freeway. The next struggle was figuring out what color to get, I had my heart set on the Magnetic a new color introduced for the 2015 model year its a dark grey, or Oxford White, up until nearly the time of purchase I was set on getting Magnetic. Not until the last week or so did I choose to get Oxford White.
Once the color was set I had to contact a fleet manager to find my vehicle I was expecting at least a week but turns out a day or so before I called he had dealer traded for the exact ST I wanted, needless to say I was ecstatic I had just turned 18 and now my car was ready for pickup, I drove down to the dealership that night to look at it but had to wait another two long days before pick up.
Finally the day came when I went down with my mom the car was pulled up front, next thing I knew all these salesman were coming up to me saying congratulations and how fast of a car it is, but in all honesty i hadn’t driven it yet. We went inside signed papers, my mom cosigned for me and I got below invoice pricing(family ownership perks) with a 100,000 mile 5 year warranty that covers everything except consumables, GAP coverage as well with 0% interest rate for 72 months. 6 days and 700 miles later I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

That’s a bloody great car for an 18 year old mate :) When I was your age I had a 1979 Opel Kadett 1.2 and a 1986 Nissan Bluebird 2.0 twin spark. (this was in 1999 though, but still).

Awesome man! Keep us updated!

Congrats. Appreciate it. Take care of it. And keep the driving like a d-bag to the minimum, please. It’s easier to do with a fast car. Don't want FoST owners getting a BMW rep

...and here I am remembering the 1993 Accord I got without air conditioning that I got when I was 18 and how I was grateful for that.

The 1.2 was a solid little engine and it had all of 2000lbs to push around. I miss my Kadett!

Congrats, man!
I was also considering a FoST. I was blown away (get it?) by how much more fun it was to drive than a Boostang. I ended up with a WRX since I’m primarily using it as a track car and wanted AWD (and b/c New England), but I still think the ST twins are more fun as daily drivers. You just can't beat that sweet exhaust note and that lightning quick steering!

*Goes to Cars.com to look up FoST’s*
*Finds out that somehow an 18 year old can afford a FoST and a 30 year old new dad can’t with a career can’t*
Congrats! :)

Congrats, man! I know you’ll love it as much as I love mine. Just resist the urge to push it on the street, and be careful!
I highly recommend going to an autocross to feel how the car reacts. A track day is fun too, but our Eagle F1 tires turn to grease and the pads become thermo-nuclear after a few minutes.

FoST drivers are safe from getting a bad rep because there isn’t any left to go around after the GTI owners went and took it all.

Could we see those calculations? What average MPG did you assume for the FoST?
FWIW, I did some back of the envelope calculations and would estimate, best case, you’re saving $110 a month on fuel. So, ah, I assume the financing cost differential of those two cars is considerably higher than $110/month.

How do tire prices compare?

Awesome! i really like the new front end redesign, but I’m still not crazy about the “streaks” on the rear lights, kind of annoying, but still pretty nice looking overall.
At 17 right now my family just has an E46 323CI which is so much fuin (~170 HP, RWD), but my mom is looking at buying a new car, and I’ve already test driven a slightly above base model Fiesta, I’m trying to convince her to let me help her purchase a FiST.
