Kind of off topic, but I’m new to the Columbia area, can you tell when/where are the good car shows/meets?

There’s Cars and Coffee every third Saturday or so, usually they give you a 1-2 day heads-up on Facebook . I also recommend Cars and Coffee up in Greenville because of a far larger turnout and more expensive/cool rides even though it’s about 1.5 hours away. Otherwise, check the local SC Car Meets Facebook events page or their own website (I’m not entirely a fan of the guy in charge, too much drama/smack-talk with him for my tastes). That said, be careful with the local late-night Cola meets, not for safety reasons but they have a bad reputation of getting shut down by police because of the typical stance-ricers or the douchey SC Wild Horses Mustang Club revving it up too much.

...Or just come out to the local SCCA monthly meetings, usually the first Tuesday of every month at Nick’s House of Pizza around 7pm. https://www.facebook.com/groups/scrsolo…

Thanks! I don’t think I will have much trouble with the police on suspeted street racing, so that’s not really a problem, I can’t outrun a Prius.

Fair enough! I usually don’t attend those meets but you will see me at SCCA events on a constant basis.

Well once I have a vehicle that I can participate with, I will definitely look in to the SCCA, but I think my 4Runner would be a poor choice to even attempt to pass inspection in.

Yeah...that may not fly with its chance of rolling over. If you’re in the mindset for owning the unofficial “track-day, bro” vehicle of Oppositelock, the Mazda Miata, there’s a shop near the airport that sells, fixes, scraps, and upgrades them.

I’m thinking more along the lines of dorito power in the form of an RX8, but Mazda is in the future plans.

Bueno. Also, the next Columbia SCCA members meeting is Tuesday, August 4, at 7:00 PM at Nick’s House of Pizza in West Columbia.
