Bought a 1996 Suzuki GS500E with ~17K miles for $850. Needs a bit of a tuneup/carb adjustment, needs a new gas door lock and a PO drilled out the back of the muffler, so it sounds like a bike with holes in the muffler.
But it runs & rides well, and has brand new tires & rear brakes. I am already researching parts for repairs & upgrades.

my 1998 GS500E was my first bike. It’s a great 1st bike and tons of fun to ride with enough pep to get up and moving well.
Have fun with it! You’ll love it

My first bike was a 1990 GS500E. It’s definitely a good first bike.
Pixel, you may not find too much that is designed specifically for the gs500, but there is a ton of homegrown stuff you can find on forums (timing advance, etc) and for front end mods just know that all Suzukis (at least from 1990-2008+) use the same steering stem and bearings so you can swap in just about any Suzuki triple tree that you want. And this means you can put a gsxr or sv front end on the bike and upgrade the forks.
