Similar vintage, but the B-47 was sleaker with its swept wings and much more temperamental to fly. The engines didn’t produce a lot of power at takeoff and it was so sleak that it was hard to scrub speed for landing.

The bubble canopy on the 47 also looks like it would provide superior visibility to the Canberrar’s canopy, as it is raised higher and has better rearward sight. Marvelous, how you can see the evolution of design of these aircraft, from the 50’s to today.

I always liked the delta-wing ‘Hustler’ personally.

Very cool looking. And I’m just now realizing it had six engines. Interesting.

The XB-52 had a bit of a bubble as well, though nothing like the fighter style canopy on the B-47:

I grew up with B-47’s on final trailing big drag chutes through the hot Tulsa summer sky.

Every church playground had a 15 ft B-47 canopy in its playground for the sunday schoolers pleasure.

The Airview Drive-In on Admiral had a neon B-47 welcoming all who arrived at dusk for a double feature...

Poor Snoopy , so unloved. I wonder, had the F-108 or F-12 made it to production, would they have treated you better?
