They kept going up in flames like some Jeeps did. This is the real reason Chrysler is spinning off ferrari

Anecdote incoming:

A very well-incomed acquaintance of mine bought his dream rig 3 years ago: a 2012 2500 Ram crew cab Long bed 4x4, wish cash. When I last saw him about a year ago, I asked him how the rig was, commenting how it was as pristine as the day he bought it. His eyes bugged and shifted and he expressed frustrations about receiving six different recall notifications from Chrysler, and how on four of them, the parts needed to replace were on looooong backorder. He said his truck apparently had all these problems that needed a recall but no service existed at that time to address many of them, and he wondered aloud what else was going to break while he waited to get the other problems fixed by Chrysler.

The only problem recall he described in detail before trailing off and going back to his beer was water leaking through the third brake light and causing damage.

Wow, now the AP is saying 500,000 to be bought back. That’s...uncomfortable.

Edit: looks like they’ll still offer to fix them for customers, so perhaps the numbers won’t really be that big. Will be interesting to see what kind of financial reserve the company sets aside.

Being the HD trucks, could it be their engine ruining emissions equipment or the 68RE?

I am not a Ram fan. One of my friends has an ‘08 3500. This thing has had more problems than you can count since he bought it (new). 2 transmission failures! and many minor issues. This is a 1 ton. He uses it for his ranch. Not exceeding capacity. He is not happy.
