If you dont wanna smell like Chanel octane number 87, disable your fuel pump before you attempt to change your Fuel Filter. I learned that the hard way just now.
It was definitely time though, this is the gas that came out of my filter:
This was my first fuel filter change. It hasnt been done for 7000 miles.

Some lessons are best learned empirically. I'll stand over here with my cigar.

disable the fuel pump? Was the truck running when you were replacing it lol? There is always some pressure in the line, maybe it was just that. They will squirt out a bit, but it’s normal. Same goes for fuel rail lines.

Welp. Good on you for putting down plastic, at least.

I had just gotten home, so there was pressure in the line. I just ended up pulling the fuel pump fuse and running the truck for a second to get rid of the pressure. I wish I thought of that in the first place

A simple lesson most don’t learn until it’s too late
I always laugh at those who have the ability to do such a job, but don’t know to run the car and pull the pump fuse and let the car die before doing this job
