CUT 7 is really famous, one of the factory low-drag test & race cars. Wondered what happened there?

EDIT: A little Google-fu shows that happened at Oulton Park, likely at the hands of its first non-Jaguar owner, Dick Protheroe.

Interesting. I’m guessing it’s famous because it won some races?

Famous mostly because it’s really cool. Lots of old British cars of interest are known by their registrations, particularly many of the Jaguar factory race cars. I remembered the license number and Jaguar factory car part, but have just been Googling, which revealed the following: It was one of the original 12 E-Type Lightweights to begin with (desirable enough!), then Jaguar started experimenting with a low-drag configuration for faster tracks, and this car was the first of those constructed. Apparently two others were built later. Doesn’t look like it won anything major, but was certainly competitive. Here’s a pretty good little summary: http://www.jagweb.com/jaguarmodelclu…

When were digital gauges invented?

Analog gauges can be harder to read

More interesting. Thanks for the info. That certainly is a special car, a pity it got to swim with the fishes, but I’m sure it was repaired at some point (even then that car must have been immensely valuable)
