Yes, that’s gfunktastic, the same person who posted the GMC Canyon story, posting to /r/CoonTown two months ago. He has since deleted the post since gaining attention.
Please leave your sympathies for this piece of shit at the door.

Oh, I should note that he claims “My brother used my laptop during that time, and posted stuff under my account accidentally.” He posted this conversation, which occurred in a suspiciously short timeframe, as “evidence.”

It saddens me that it is 2015 and people still think that way.

I’m going to file this under “how is this relevant?”. Dude’s truck caught fire. Doesn’t matter if he’s an asshole or not, if his claim is legitimate (which we’ll hopefully find out soon enough), GM is still dicking him over.

It’s relevant in the fact that I’m not going to waste my time feeling sorry for someone who fails to possess basic human decency. It doesn’t change his case, but it sure as hell changes the fact that I give a fuck.

I think it sucks and that GM is doing a really stupid thing into not looking at a truck fire that has occurred on a brand new truck, especially when they’re undergoing a recall for the older model of the trucks. Cut the dude out of your mind and approach it from another angle.

Well.. I suddenly don’t feel bad for the guy now. Karma’s a bitch.

It's 2015. This conversation shouldn't be nessecary but sadly it is.

Hate to say it but he’s far from the only one....
I’m sure I serve a bunch of racists at the restaurant I work at. We all deal with them on a daily basis. Doesn’t change the fact that something went horribly wrong with his truck

So what was the video about?? where they black and were they actually distruping some learning process?.
Anyway I didn’t have any simpathy feelings for the guy in the first place, my reaction was against GM, they are the problem.

Is it possible he is a racist pig? Yes. Does it have anything to do with the current issue with GM? Nope.

Wow! Man it is 2015. No tolerance for that crap, coming from either side.

I had little sympathy in the first place since it’s only been a week since it happened and I’m doubtful an investigation has even been conducted yet. For all we know a mouse or something could’ve chewed through some wiring and caused it. Of course it could have in fact been a manufacturer defect, in which case I imagine after a formal investigation is done and prove that, GM will probably do something. Big corporations don’t just give out new trucks before they know if it was their fault or not.
Now, if an investigation had been done and proved it was a manufacturer defect and GM didn’t do shit, I’d have some sympathy.

I mean this doesnt really effect the fact that he bought a brand new truck and it ferrari’d itself within 3 months. I mean it’s not like a bunch of black people were angry and torched it like baltimore

He has other posts in his comment history that are racist, or posted in racist subreddits, and he also brags about having curbstomped somebody. This isn’t just an isolated incident of racism for him.

I said this in another thread.......what if it does? Those posts are public knowledge. He made his bed by getting loud (perhaps rightfully so) but maybe the continued delays are because people in GM are actively working to slow this down? If DMVs in bumfuck hicksville are unable to do their job because of “religious beliefs” then why can’t I as a Mexican-American deny service to a racist because he doesn’t share my “religious belief” that people are equal?
Now this is NOT likely to be the case, but don’t be too quick to dismiss this as “he’s racist, but it doesn’t matter”. It very well *could* matter.

GM is looking into it. But since he filed an insurance claim, GM has to coordinate with his insurance company rather than just do it themselves.
Once the insurance adjusters and GM settle their dick measuring contest, I bet things move more quickly.
Still doesn’t excuse any dumbass racist posts allegedly made by this guy. And if it is actually his posts, I certainly do hope he has to deal with someone of color during this process. And said melatonin-haver should have the power to approve or deny claims just to make it worse.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 21:28 |

They’re looking into it now that the media has caught wind of it, yeah. Although I find it interesting that there’s an issue or delay with the process since he filed a claim. I mean, who the hell is going to go to the manufacturer first after their vehicle catches fire?
And no, it doesn’t excuse anything, but it shouldn’t have to factor in, because this problem exists entirely outside of whatever opinions he holds of other races. Full stop.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 21:35 |

But why do his beliefs matter to a company? Why are they allowed to determine who they can and cannot help because what they believe? Isn’t that discrimination?
I’m in the south. One in every 5 vehicles is a truck. My neighborhood has a house with a confederate flag painted on the driveway. People are literally selling flags on the side of the road . people talk like that offensively all the time. It’s just what it is. I find it wrong but That’s what they choose to believe.

You know how easy it is to google conversations like this? I could literally do it right now with my two emails.
Took less than a minute, and if I cropped it, it would be even more convincing

Yeah I don’t get why his dealing with his insurance makes it more difficult for GM either.
And his views on higher levels of melatonin pigmentation are irrelevant to his case, but one can still wish he has to deal with people who make him uncomfortable and challenge his views if they are indeed racist.

Somebody on Reddit was the first one to point it out. That user’s picture is the one in the main post, and I did some further digging to uncover more incidents of racism in Canyon guy’s comment history.

Well like I said, in other businesses, some of them government run, people are using similar excuses to deny service. Whether right or wrong, that could be at play here too. I think it is unlikely, but I am posting a situation where yes, his beliefs can affect the outcome of this. And possibly, it could be *legal* for them to do so. Or depending on how it was handled, it could be hard to prove any wrong doing. Everyone is already assuming incompetence. If I happened to see that guy bitching online and I was handling his case and trying to rush it? “Whoops! Slipped off my desk!” or I hand it off to bob who hands it to jim who hands it to susan who hands it to......
Unlikely, highly doubtful, but this is a case where those beliefs matter.

There is a racist loose on reddit? Somebody notify gawker.
But seriously... what a prick. It doesn’t make GM screwing him over any less crappy, but it does make him a prick. I don’t get people like this. I can understand bigotry born of ignorance or bad experiences - but willing, seemingly gleeful bigotry? Why? How does that make people satisfied?

...for another opinion (found on canada355.ca)...
“I’m not really sure what GM’s legal responsibilities in this case are, if any. I suppose the vehicle is covered by a warranty. If the transmission failed, they would replace it, free of charge. If the alternator failed, and burned down the truck, well, you might think they have some responsibility to fix the issue. However, if the owner made an insurance claim, the insurance company will replace the truck. It would obviously not make sense then for GM to replace the truck as well. If you could get two new vehicles (one from insurance, one from the manufacturer) then, vehicles would suspiciously catch on fire all the time.”
...it does make a certain amount of sense.

Yeah, the guy is basically trying to commit fraud by getting two payouts for the same car. I can understand why he might ask for GM to pay the deductible, since he wouldn’t have to if GM just built a proper car in the first place. But asking for his down payment as well is straight up fraud. It should be covered by his insurance anyway, otherwise he should have solely approached GM about this matter.
