Large boxy sedan with a lot of ‘80s futurism in the design, like a CRT display that only works on a day that doesn’t end in Y.

NOOOOOOOO kill it with fire!!!!!!!!!!
fun fact, we’ve have 2 Lagondas in my shop for about a year still waiting on dumb ass Aston to send us a harness diagram and parts
![]() 07/23/2015 at 18:06 |

It’s got crazy complicated 80s electronics. Which are very hard to repair.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Designed by William Towns, October 1976 saw Aston Martin reveal a striking new model, a new 4 door Lagonda with innovative solid state digital instrumentation, a futuristic concept at the time. Lagonda created a wave of publicity for the company and the order book filled rapidly, particularly from the Middle East market.
With initial production levels at one a week it wasn’t until 1979 that the first car was delivered. In 1982 the Lagonda was finally cleared for sale in the USA. In 1984, a Long Wheelbase Tickford Limousine version was announced with a TV in the front and rear.

Aston built 645 of them between 1974-1990 in four different series. The original series 1 cars are beautiful, really just a four door V8, but the series 2 through 4 cars carried the wedge shaped styling like the one you saw. Based on the wheels and third brake I think it’s a 86-87 series 3 model. They were powered by Aston’s 5.3 V8 coupled with a Chrysler Torqueflite 3 spd. auto. That’s really all I know.

but is it worth killing with fire?
![]() 07/23/2015 at 18:45 |

I just feel for the owners of those cars
![]() 07/23/2015 at 18:51 |
|
Can’t you just... replace it all? LS swap an Aston Martin?
![]() 07/23/2015 at 18:51 |
|
Very common. Rolls/Bentley used them for years.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 19:07 |
|
it’s the EVERYTHING ELSE that is the real issue. A/C system, trim, suspension components, everything is “technically” available with Aston but they literally have to make them one at a time
![]() 07/23/2015 at 19:30 |
|
Is it really worth restoring a Lagonda? They can’t be good cars and they’re ugly as hell.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 21:16 |
|
Oh god.... its a Lagonda, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 21:17 |
|
Yes..................yes
![]() 07/23/2015 at 23:55 |

The ones we have are not incredibly bad like others that have came by, but waiting on parts is the main problen
![]() 07/24/2015 at 00:06 |
|
All that hassle and at the end of the wait, you get to look forward to driving your pristine Aston Martin.... Lagonda.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 00:22 |

I am literally watching this movie right now.... in Spanish :]
![]() 07/24/2015 at 03:04 |

From a recent review:
“Tales of its supposedly horrific unreliability read like an H.P. Lovecraft novel, owners and mechanics driven mad by ancient and arcane blood-secrets.”
