The reason why it’s cheap is because it’s the 8v engine... Not to act like a downer of some kind, but that’s a normal/kind of high price for a non 16v...
Here is another 8v in Japan for about 9500$...

The reason why it’s special is because it’s in America, I don’t give a shit about their prices in Japan.

If you’re willing to pay 6500$ extra for a car just because it’s in the US, good for you... but the link I sent you is a 1989 car and it costs at best 2000$ to get a car anywhere in the states from Japan.
It’s even cheaper if you live by a port.
So do what you want with your money, I think saving 4000$ is worth a bit of my time...

I live about as far from a port as you could get.

Shipping a car cross country with uship cost 1500$ at best... And that to do NY—>CA.
The way people forget/dismiss importing a car is really kind of crazy to me...
For this price, during your holiday you could go to Japan, spend two weeks there and check the car (2500$), ship the car to CA (1000$), pay the taxes (not sure?? let’s say 1000$), ship the car to the middle of Kentucky (1500 to see large) and you would still have 500$ to get it to a track day at VIR, hotel included...
And that’s for a Delta... In Demuro’s case with his R32, he overpaid his car by about 10000$.
Can’t really complain otherwise, I wouldn’t be making money importing cars to Japan myself, but a little bit of research/holiday taking goes a long way in term of saving...
PS: Did I mention the 9500$ Delta in Japan has over 3 times less mileage than the one on eBay? It’s got to be worth 4 or 5000$ extra compared to a US price...

Yeah... for you... sure...

There’s also a metric fuck ton of paperwork to fill out. Buying and getting a passport to go look at it. Learning Japanese to communicate with the seller better. Dealing with customs. Buying shipping insurance. Waiting weeks (possibly months) to get it home. Dealing with the BMV having no idea how to title and register a car from another country. These are reasons why people would rather not import a car from Japan. It’s a hassle and a half.

Getting an interpret is very easy/cheap and there are more than one oppo member to live in Japan who would be willing to help for free... Shipping insurance accounts usually for 1.5% of the price of the car (between 1 and 2% depending on the price of the car/shipping company...etc)... So 150$ in this case.
And honestly, if you are willing to pay this price for an 8V, then for 16000$ I’ll go get that specific 8V with 3 times less mileage for you, ship it to Bird and Ferrero1911 ( http://www.roadtripmotorcars.com/ ) who will take care of the importation itself and bring it to your door... :)
In what region of the US are you btw?

What’s the price for importing from EU? Cause why the hell would you import an european car that’s been imported to japan from japan to the US? Special rules because WW2 compensation?
Lancia Delta 2.0 HF Turbo. 2000€. Hell, a HPE 2.0 HF Turbo Evo 500 can be had for 3700€

Lol these are not the same cars.
We’re talking about Lancia Delta Integrale Hf 8v and 16v...
2.0 hf turbos are not worth anything anywhere... And they are not importable in the US in the first place.
As for why Japan: because the market and isolation of Japan makes it the cheapest place on earth to find Lancia Delta Integrale 8v and 16v...
Next time check before posting like that without thinking...

Knock yourself out, i see 5 for lower price then OP, and that’s just counting one site. Any idea on shipping from EU vs JP?
![]() 07/24/2015 at 11:26 |

The cheapest one on this site is still about 800$ more expensive than the cheapest one in Japan, considering that the cheapest one in Japan has 3 times less mileage (70000km vs 212000km for the one at 8800euros) than the cheapest one on your website...
As I said, there’s zero reason for anyone to import a Lancia from Europe. Japan had much cheaper prices for cars with a much lower mileage and better conditions.
Shipping is also about 1.5 times more expensive from Europe.

The only one that is interesting is this one
http://m.mobile.de/auto-inserat/l…
It’s a 16v with a good mileage for aprice barely over what you can find in Japann.
Granted that these are original mileage and not a “since rebuilt” mileage.
