A small thing. Bought a second hand extension lead. Didn’t work.

This would be why.

Kinja'd!!!

Added fuse, power at a distance restored.

Lol.

Who sells an extension lead without a fuse?

In this case, a secondhand stall selling stuff from house clearances and so on. Presumably the original owner didn’t make the no fuse/no power correlation.

You bought a second hand extension lead, do you want your house to burn down?? And looking at that plug, ie it not being a moulded on one, it’s a very old extension lead at that, don't forget to plug it into that 4 way you must have which also has your tumble drier, hair dryer and fan heater plugged into as well!

It’s actually one of these things and has nothing more electrically onerous than some chargers and isn’t on much so I don’t think the fire brigade are going to be needed anytime soon.

Plus it’s appropriately fused, the lead shows no signs of damage and all sockets are working properly.

Oh, and as we see in the picture the plug is correctly and safely wired and the lead is secured.
