For me this car is the Chrysler Intrepid(Dodge Intrepid in USA) especially in this color. Ever since this car came out I loved it I just think it’s a great looking sedan. I would drive one with no shame whatsoever. It’s one of those cars when I see one I can’t help but smile. Even with it’s god awful interior I love everything about it.
I’ve never had one and I have no memories attached to one but for some reason this car affects me emotionally. I must of had something good happen in my life where one drove by at the same time therefore making everytime I see one it takes me back to those good memories.
I also remember racing one a lot in Gran Turismo 2 so maybe that’s why?

They STILL use them here in VA on the highways. You almost forget about them then see a pretty array of red and blue - shit that’s a cop!

The Saturn SL1, I really don’t know why I like it, my family had two, one Auto and a Standard, and they were both absolute shitboxes. I still like them though, for some reason.

All mailaise era boats just like yours. sure they are slow heavy and ridiculous, but I’d crusie any one down main street at 20 mph and enjoy the hell out of it.

Up until a couple years ago my local police dept. ran a squarebody (think Robocop) Taurus as their cop car. Yes, just one cop car. It’s a town of like 600.

Hold on to your dream, and let it remain precious. Let me assure you, the reality of living with those cars is not as nice as your dream. Mine went through 3 engines. 3! Avoid those cars at all costs.....One thing about it though, it did have a smooth ride, and for a car that size, it did handle pretty well. Other than that....avoid ‘em!

For reasons I can’t explain, I would have to think about it. I do love the 1st gen. Cayenne because of what it is, which goes against what a lot of people think. Also, for some reason I think it looks excellent.

1999 Nissan Maxima. 4 Doors, but was quick. It was never something I’d ever consider buying. It seemed like a better Soccer Mom car than an Accord or Camry ever was or would be.

One of my buddies has that exact Intrepid in dark green. Thing is HUGE on the inside.
I’ve been developing a soft spot for the new Acuras, especially the MDX. Whyyyyyy
![]() 07/22/2015 at 15:51 |

Did you have the 2.7,3.2 or 3.5? I know the 2.7 was not a very good engine at all but the 3.5 was a great motor, the same motor that was in a Chrysler 300.

In 2001 to celebrate the return of Dodge to NASCAR (feller) they made “Motorsports Edition”s of the Neon, Dakota, and Intrepid.
Basically a sticker package with black wheels and yellow letter’d Goodyear tires that were impossible to find.

The next Generation Talon was a superbly pretty car especially in two tone red/black.
Now that I think about it if you base it on looks alone most of the chrysler/dodge/eagle products of the mid 90’s were all pretty good looking cars.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 15:56 |

That’s a handsome Dakota. 10/10 would hoon

When I was in Arizona as an exchange student in ‘94, my host’s dad had a first gen Intrepid. Black with some select red trim and a very dark tint. My initial reaction was “OK. So he drives like the American version of a 5-series.” Just a good looking, and even somewhat sporty looking sedan, that says “I like driving, but I’m also good at my job.”
![]() 07/22/2015 at 15:57 |

This was Apollo, my 1996 Saturn SL2. I used to race against this car in my 95 SC2, but the car and its driver were too fast for me to beat. Years later, I was looking for a fun but practical daily driver, and the guy offered it to me. I left it as he sold it to me, except for swapping in a leather interior.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 15:59 |

You mean one of these?
I agree that’s a pretty car. It seems Dodge/Chrysler of the late 90’s to early 2000’s made a whole lot of greatly styled cars. Dodge/Chrysler seem way more conservative now than ever before.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 15:59 |

My fiancee’s bug. It it by far the most unreliable of our three cars, and one of those cars is 21 years old (the Saturn in the background). But I just love it. Probably has something to do with all the time I spend wrenching on it.

Any FWD V8 GM W-Body. They’re stupid, pointless, and have transmissions like glass but I want a Grand Prix GXP SO DAMN BAD.
Second Gen Vue Redline. We all know I irrationally loved my mom’s Vue XR. That same engine and platform with a sweet body kit and more performance tuned suspension and leather/suede seats? Count me in!
First gen Ford Escape. Dunno why but I can’t help but giggle every time I drive my friend’s ‘02.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 16:02 |

2.7 and I babied that car too. No hooning at all. All three engines crapped out, one of them was a new engine that died after just 20,000 miles. Thank god I had a warranty that replaced it, but still, any engine should last longer than that especially when it is being properly maintained! Screw Mitsubishi engines! (yes, they designed it!)
![]() 07/22/2015 at 16:05 |

Yeah but they likely have a Charger waiting around the corner. VA likes to stagger bike cops and patrol cars too.

I did also like the Intrepid too and I couldn’t explain it either. I’m not sure about my feelings now. There isn’t many here (I’m pretty sure that I have seen one at some point) so possibility of driving one are low. I’m pretty sure that it would be a disappointing experience.

The Cadillac Catera, primarily the pre-refresh model.
It’s actually got some cool stuff, considering it was actually an Opel, and was truly a German Cadillac.
It even had a sport mode!
I like this car without shame. I don’t care. I just like it.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 16:12 |

The Grand Prix GXP was a fucking BAD ASS CAR. I worked in the wash bay at Pontiac when they came out. In 2005 303hp was A LOT! Remember back then trucks didn’t even have 300hp and the mustang GT had 260hp. 303 hp out of grandmas grand prix was insane.
I still love that car to this day but GXP I know why I love it. The Intrepid I don’t.

Geo Metro Convertible.
Is it a floppy version of a terrible, terrible, terrible car that should probably keep its roof? Yep. Do I care? Nope. Would I buy one? In a heartbeat.
Bonus points for RV style decals!
![]() 07/22/2015 at 16:16 |

This may be the first time I have ever seen the Dodge Intrepid mentioned on Oppo or the FP. With that said, I actually looked into one of these as my first car (glad I didn’t get it though).
A car I love but cannot explain would probably be a Honda Accord Crosstour that has been lowered (properly on air suspension).
It’s so wrong yet so right. It just looks like a really long shooting brake.
Let me also say that I normally do not like slammed cars but if the car never had sporting intentions to begin with then I’d say it’s okay as long as it is done correctly.
![]() 07/22/2015 at 16:16 |

I’ve seen one just last Saturday. My buddy Bruno and I had a good chuckle. It was actually the Turbo model convertible in white but no RV stripes.

I was looking at a base 4x4. Black with white roof and no rack. I was never a fan of the rack.

A bit late to the party, but my pick out of the vast picks I could do is the Lincoln Navigator.
I should hate this thing, I’m not a big SUV fan, I don’t think it’s the best looking car, and I should hate it considering I hate it’s Cadillac counterpart. But, I don’t know, I just can’t despise it.
But for the record I really like the 2015 version more.

Missed out on this yesterday but for me 1980s to 94 S10 Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada. They are boxes on wheels that get teens, have multiple gremlins, and roll over prone but they are brutes that always seemed to run and surprisingly well mannered if you get the right tires. Want to own one again and love the offshoot, the Typhoon.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 17:30 |

The Mitsubisho FTO. The only FWD car I’d put up with. Better in design than any FWD car and just like the AE86, it never got sold in the US which means if I wanted one real bad, its getting someones hand me down.
Also the Renault Clio Sport V6 24V. forget all the civic, vtec, nismo ,etc nonsense. None of the people developing those cars have the gonads to make their compact MR like Renault did. BTW they also have a Renault Megane Trophy racing car that is MR and eats other cars alive.
![]() 07/23/2015 at 17:36 |

Renault has always been a bit batshit crazy which is why we love them.
