I traded my ‘08 MS3 GT for a ‘15 Focus ST. Fully loaded.

Compared to my lowered, cold air intake, rear motor mount MS3, the Focus is extremely quiet and smooth. I find myself cruising at 4k rpms and not realizing it because the exhaust and motor is so quiet. The MS3 had interior squeaks and rattles that would drive you insane and the FoST just seems solid. Again, factory fresh vs. modded and 7 years old. The Focus feels like a luxury car in comparison, but my threshold for discomfort is probably quite high since I didn’t think the Mazda was too bad. The Mazda felt a bit faster, but that could be due to the turbo lag, which the Ford has none in comparison. That’s all for now, I just picked it up last night. I know there are a bunch of other ST owners on here.

Ive been really thinking the facelift on the 15s looks too grumpy where as the pre-facelift sort of has a maniacal happy/mean look. (Plus I think the facelift looks too fusion.. not that that’s a bad thing) but it looks proper in black and I can dig it.

welcome to the club! yea those rattles are coming just you wait....but yea these cars are very smooth/comfortable despite what the gti crowd likes to say. your ms3 looks great! I wanted one but read a bunch of sketchy reliable posts about them and was drawn to the low focus st prices and comfort and style of the st2 package. Keep us updated and hop on over to focusst.org

im not a fan of the new ones but they are growing on me. I just don’t like when manufacturers change cars to a more corporate face. the new ones looks like a muistang/fusion hatchback wheras the original was a unique design. Honestly the only facelift ive ever thought was fantastic was when Subaru redid the wrx and got rid of bugeye

I thought I read there was a TSB for a replacement mount on the early ones and the newer ones had an updated mount. Maybe the updated mount is shit too.

Between my wife and I, we’ve bought 3 brand new Mazdas in 7 years. We still have a 2012 CX-9. I wish there was a current Mazda that appealed to me like a new Mazdaspeed, but sadly there isn’t.

I can’t imagine the rattles being anything like the Mazda. Thanks, I’ll sign up to focusst.org. I’m going to try VERY hard to keep this thing stock after having modded cars since I was 16 (I’m 29 now). The mod bug is so addicting and it generally, from my experience, makes the car less comfortable, practical, valuable, and reliable and isn’t worth it to me anymore. I think the Focus is pretty all around solid car as is. But, we’ll see....

its refreshing to see someone think that way. a lot of the guys on focusst build their cars up very high then complain because they cant get the power down and are still on a fwd platform....with that said a short shift plate is very easy and makes the car a joy to drive along with a pedal spacer to raise the throttle. beyond that its up to you. Enjoy the car!
