Oppo, I have a bad habit. I often drive with my hands at 12-and-shifter instead of 10-2 or 9-3.
Thus the wear on the top of the wheel.

You’re just 2 Fast 2 Furious for 10-and-2.

When I’m just tooling around town and shifting a lot in traffic I do too. It’s easier AND I get to look like a douchebag...

I'm always 12-and-out the window when crusing.

Plot twist: it’s an automatic.
sometimes I drive at 6 and cheeseburger.

I drive at 9 and 3, when I feel like being a douche and shift at the same time, I put one at 12 and one on my lap ready to shift, if I don’t feel like being a douche I do one at nine and one on my lap ready to shift.

Well as long as you’re not doing an autocross or track day like that you should be fine. Although the same could be said for when it’s raining heavy. I drive with my hands at 8 and 4 mostly though since I’m lazy.

I fail to see the problem. My hands are either at 9 and shifter, or 12 and shifter. Or 12 and girlfriend.

I think this is more of a norm than a bad habit. I either drive at 12 or with my hand between 9 and 10 so I can rest my arm on the window sill

Mine’s a six speed manual. Base. Zero options.

It's because your steering wheel is off center making it more comfortable to drive it at 12. Trust me I figured it out in my dads Kia Soul

In my old car, I used to Elbow on the door and the steering wheel between my index and ring fingers at 9:00. Had a wear spot on the door where my elbow was.

Since I do a lot of slow driving, I’m either at window and 12, 12 and shifter, or 6 and armrest. If weather gets bad, or the traffic gets fast and heavy, then I’m at 9 and 3 like a good boy.

yeah.. my bad too - wear at 12 and 7 for me. Though honestly, if I’m busy being sporty and working the transmission I prefer it up at 12. Drop down to 7 for cruise mode...

Don’t feel too bad, I tend to drive at 2, 4 or 6 and window.

My mom always has one hand at 12 and one in her lap, and it annoys me so much, because I know that if she gets in a collision where the airbag deploys she is breaking her arm and probably her nose.

But telling her that it’s unsafe wouldn’t be effective, and I know this because she never started wearing her seat-belt until she got a new car that had a functioning seat-belt chime, and she still doesn’t wear it sometimes!
