“Family fails to keep employees from going home to their families. Expects apology when they have to spend time with each other.” Seriously. Fuck people like this.

All the employees going home caused the problem.

As someone who works retail, your view is pretty spot on. Want to make a large purchase that involves paperwork? Don’t do it five minutes before closing.

That was the part I outlined in the first sentence, yes.

I worked retail for 5 years in high school and the first half of college. The worst part were the people that wanted to come in and make huge life decisions about buying a 50 gallon fish tank, hand picking every decoration, and setting up a full ecosystem of fish, 10 minutes before closing.
Or the oblivious who you can’t really kick out, but always say “just looking” when you and your co-workers each ask three times if they need help. 20 minutes after closing. Because they don’t know you’re closed even though they’re the only ones in the store and the hours are clearly posted on the door...

I tend to remind people after we’re closed that we’re closed. Sometimes in a way that is less polite than my usual demeanour.
I also laugh at people who knock on the doors when we’re closed. I live for their sad faces, because I am an asshole.

We expect an apology! An apology, and a watch so this never happens again!

Oh yes! The “I just need one thing” crowd. My wife used to love to tell them No when we worked retail. I think it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with her.

That’s very intelligent comedy right there. You wanna know how fucked up and jaded I am? I’m used to thinking customers are just gonna ask for free shit, so I didn’t even think twice about the implication of a watch.
But bravo good sir. Bravo.

All I could think when I read this story:
“This is newsworthy???”

“5 years in high school”
Here’s your sign.

It was a Tom story. Now that he’s front page, I think anything dealer-y he writes up.

And the first half of college. I’ll have you know it only took me 4.5 years to graduate high school, tyvm.

Yeah, but Fox “““News””” reported it first.

Do they hate us car dealers too? I don’t watch them so I have no clue.

the security guard with the keys was in the building though. That’s a pretty shitty security guard.

Counterpoint: Perhaps they were using this as a negotiating tactic, or responding to a “Sale ends today!!!!” ad.
Possible they were just dumb as well.

The security guard was Definitely not doing his job. That is for sure.
