Haven’t seen one of these in years. Indeed I forgot they ever existed.

Japanese cars in europe have to go through a dark and deep valley of “nobody gives a shit”. By the time they become interesting again, they are almost all gone and a very select few weirdos have snatched up the rare survivors “long before they were cool”.
When was the last time you’ve seen an Aerodeck?

I had one of these briefly 10 years ago. It was quite boring (despite the multicolored paint that it had) but it worked well. I sold it to my friend who needed a car.

Now I understand where your Toyota love comes from!
BTW, a BMW mechanic at my local watering hole had a “they don’t build ‘em like they used to anymore” moment yesterday. He complained about a timing chain failure on a 1-series which was a PITA to fix. According to him, pretty much all manufacturers get the same cheap timing chains these days that are prone to lengthening and therefore engine failure. Just Toyota has resisted the bean counters and gets them pre-lengthened and in the good old quality.
